Abstract

Indonesia has a character that is very fulfilling to be called a plural country. Plurality in Indonesia on the one hand is the wealth of the nation, but on the other hand can be one of the triggers of conflict. One form of plurality in Indonesia is religious plurality with the majority of Indonesians embracing Islam. As the majority, of course, Muslims in Indonesia are expected to be pioneers in efforts to form inter-religious harmony as the spirit in the madinah charter. Pesantren is a very strategic Islamic educational institution in an effort to produce an inclusive Islamic generation through the implementation of moderate Islamic education in it. This mini-research uses a qualitative approach with the type of library research. This research produces a theoretical description of the implementation of moderate Islamic education in pesantren through four strategies, namely first inserting moderation content in every relevant material, second optimizing learning approaches that can give birth to critical thinking, respect for differences, respect for other people's opinions, tolerant, democratic, dare to convey ideas, sportsmanship and responsibility, third organizing programs, education, training and certain briefings with a special theme on religious moderation, and fourth reaching the evaluation aspect.
