Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan memahami isi bacaan pada mata pelajaran bahasa Indonesia pada peserta didik kelas V di SDN 18 Kampung Durian Kota Padang. Model pembelajaran CIRC dipilih karena mengintegrasikan kegiatan membaca dan menulis secara kooperatif, yang diharapkan dapat meningkatkan pemahaman peserta didik terhadap bacaan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus yang masing-masing terdiri dari tahap perencanaan, pelaksanaan tindakan, observasi, dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian adalah peserta didik kelas V SDN 18 Kampung Durian Kota Padang, yang berjumlah 25 orang. Instrumen yang digunakan meliputi tes membaca pemahaman, lembar observasi modul ajar, aktivitas peserta didik dan guru. Data dianalisis secara kuantitatif dan kualitatif untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan membaca pemahaman dan keterlibatan peserta didik dalam pembelajaran. Hasil penelitian pada siklus I meraih rertata 71,50 selanjutnya hasil penilaian meningkat pada siklus II yaitu 83,50 yang menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model CIRC mampu meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemahaman peserta didik. Aktivitas belajar mengalami peningkatan yang ditunjukkan oleh hasil pengamatan aktivitas peserta didik pada siklus I meraih rerata 84,42 dengan kualifikasi baik (B). Selanjutnya hasil penilaian meningkat pada siklus II yaitu 92,85 dengan kualifikasi sangat baik (A). Hasil pengamatan pada aktivitas guru siklus I meraih rerata 85,71 dengan kualifikasi baik (B), kemudian mengalami peningkatan pada siklus II meraih nilai 100 dengan kualifikasi sangat baik (A). Dengan demikian, model CIRC efektif digunakan sebagai salah satu strategi pembelajaran dalam meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemahaman peserta didik di sekolah dasar.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the use of the Discovery Learning model in improving students’ writing skills in Indonesian language subjects at the elementary school level. The research was conducted using a literature study method by collecting various references, including books, scientific journals, and relevant previous studies. The data were analyzed using a descriptive qualitative approach to identify patterns and concepts related to the effectiveness of the model implementation. The findings indicate that Discovery Learning can help improve students’ writing abilities by encouraging them to be more active in generating ideas, developing concepts, and organizing their writing systematically. In addition, this model is also capable of fostering students’ creativity and independence in the learning process. Therefore, Discovery Learning can be considered an effective alternative learning model for enhancing elementary school students’ writing skills.

Abstract

The transformation of 21st-century education requires students to possess skills that enable them to think critically and understand information effectively. One of these essential skills is spatial literacy. Spatial literacy helps students understand spatial concepts such as location, direction, distance, and interregional relationships, which are commonly discussed in Social Studies learning. However, spatial materials are often considered difficult by students because they tend to be presented in an abstract manner.  This study aims to examine the effect of using maps and atlases as learning media on students' spatial literacy skills by reviewing relevant scientific references. The study employed a literature review method by analyzing various sources, including journals, books, scientific articles, and previous research related to maps, atlases, and spatial literacy skills. Data were collected through the review and analysis of relevant written sources and literature. The findings indicate that the use of maps and atlases has a positive effect on improving students' spatial literacy skills. After using these media in the learning process, students demonstrated better abilities in understanding spatial information, identifying locations, recognizing directions, and explaining relationships between regions. Therefore, maps and atlases can be used as effective learning media to support Social Studies education in the era of 21st-century learning.
