Abstract

This study aims to improve the speaking skills of fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 106 Labojo through the implementation of the Student Facilitator and Explaining learning model. The research was motivated by the students' low speaking abilities, as reflected in their lack of confidence, fluency, clarity, and courage when speaking in public. The method used was Classroom Action Research (CAR), conducted over two cycles. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, speaking skill tests, and documentation. The results showed a significant improvement in students’ speaking skills, with the average score increasing from 62 in the first cycle to 92 in the second cycle, and learning mastery rising from 23% to 100%. Thus, the Student Facilitator and Explaining model is effective in enhancing students’ speaking skills Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara siswa kelas IV SD Negeri 106 Labojo melalui penerapan model pembelajaran Student Facilitator and Explaining. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan berbicara siswa, yang terlihat dari kurangnya keberanian, kefasihan, kejelasan, dan kepercayaan diri saat berbicara di depan umum. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) sebanyak dua siklus. Teknik pengumpulan data meliputi observasi, wawancara, tes keterampilan berbicara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan peningkatan keterampilan berbicara siswa dari rata-rata nilai 62 pada siklus I menjadi 92 pada siklus II, dengan ketuntasan belajar meningkat dari 23% menjadi 100%. Dengan demikian, model pembelajaran Student Facilitator and Explaining efektif diterapkan dalam meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara siswa.
