Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of Word Card Media on the narrative writing skills of students. Using a Quasi-Experimental Design with quantitative and qualitative approaches, the research subjects were fifth-grade students at SDIT Al Fityah Pekanbaru. Data were collected through performance tests (pretest and posttest) measured using a rubric with five aspects of writing skills. The quantitative results show a significant increase in the students' average scores, rising from 67.61 to 81.52. The hypothesis test results indicate a significance value of $0.00$, which is less than $0.05$, confirming a significant influence of the Word Card media. The qualitative findings affirm that this improvement was primarily triggered by a fundamental change in the Word Choice and Vocabulary (Diction) aspect, shifting the students' writing from monotonous to precise. The Word Card Media, through its multisensory and collaborative activities, proved effective in overcoming writer's block and enriching diction, serving as the main catalyst for the overall improvement in writing skills.
