Abstract

This research is based on the fact that the low KPS of elementary school students is generally caused by learning that is still teacher-centered and memorization-oriented, so that students are rarely involved in experimental activities or direct investigations. This study aims to determine the improvement of Science Process Skills through the application of the PBL learning model of fifth-grade students of SDN 106 Pekanbaru. The research method used is an experimental method with a Quasi Experimental Design design with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design form. The instrument used is a basic Science Process Skills test totaling 25 multiple-choice questions through an initial test (pretest) and a final test (posttest). The results of this study of students' Science Process Skills, in the experimental class by applying the PBL model, the average pretest score was 59.60 and the control class 56.00, then the posttest results of the average experimental class score were 86.53 and the control class the average posttest score was 71.33. The highest KPS indicators are observing with an average of 89.3 and communicating with an average of 88.9 and the lowest is predicting with an average of 82. There is a significant increase based on the Mann-Whitney U test Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected with a significance value of Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) = 0.001 < 0.05, meaning that the application of PBL learning treatment or model in the experimental class has a positive effect on improving students' Science Process Skills compared to the control class.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the various forms of bullying and the handling practices of teachers at SD 67 Pekanbaru, focusing on teachers’ meanings and experiences in addressing bullying phenomena in elementary school settings. Bullying in primary schools remains a critical issue in education as it directly affects students’ social and emotional development. The research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design, allowing for an in-depth and contextual understanding of the phenomenon. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and document analysis, involving six classroom teachers selected purposively based on their direct involvement in handling bullying cases. The findings reveal that the most dominant forms of bullying are verbal and social-relational, such as teasing and peer exclusion. Teachers’ strategies in managing bullying focus on educational, dialogical, and empathy-based approaches, emphasizing moral reflection and interpersonal understanding among students. However, challenges remain in identifying non-physical forms of bullying and in the limited institutional support provided by the school. These findings highlight that teachers act as moral and social agents who not only enforce discipline but also foster empathy and a culture of mutual respect within the elementary school environment.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the forms of verbal bullying occurring among upper-grade elementary students and the strategies employed by teachers to address these incidents at SD Negeri 68 Pekanbaru. The research used a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews with homeroom teachers, classroom observations, and supporting documentation. The findings reveal that the dominant forms of verbal bullying include physical mockery, negative labeling, insulting remarks related to academic abilities, and intimidating verbal threats. These behaviors commonly occur during daily interactions inside the classroom and on the school grounds, often unnoticed by teachers due to their quick and subtle nature or because they are perceived as ordinary peer interactions. Teachers’ handling strategies consist of both preventive and corrective efforts. Preventive actions include strengthening students’ empathy, establishing classroom rules, fostering positive communication habits, and integrating character education into daily activities. Corrective strategies involve direct mediation between perpetrators and victims, classroom-based counseling, and collaboration with parents to follow up on repeated behaviors. However, teachers still face challenges such as limited time, insufficient professional training on bullying response, and a school culture that is not yet fully responsive to bullying issues. This study highlights the need for enhanced teacher training and reinforced school policies to prevent and manage verbal bullying more effectively and systematically.
