Abstract

One of categorization method for granitic rock is by their tectonic setting which can be analyzed by plotting their trace element value in discrimination diagram. Discrimination diagrams proposed by Pearce et al., particularly Rb vs (Y+Nb) and Rb vs (Yb+Ta) diagram, have been widely used by igneous geochemists. To produce the trace element plots in discrimination diagrams, many researchers use desktop software such as GCDKit, PetroGraph, GeopyTool, etc., which generate static diagrams. The deficiencies in using static diagrams are that the user cannot comparatively analyze the plotting result with another available data from different location or rock type and user also cannot group some identical data to allow more flexible analysis. Moreover, there are some more disadvantages when using desktop software which can only be accessed from one computer device and user cannot store and use data collectively. Web-based applications built using Node.js, MySQL and D3.js can be used to produce visualization for Pearce diagram interactively, store big data of trace elements into the database and access by many users.  Using D3.js library, web bases application can generate diagrams with plots and/or density plots which allow more comprehensive comparative analysis between some corresponded geochemical data.
