Abstract

TikTok is one of the social media platforms that is currently widespread among adolescents globally, and this phenomenon is also evident among students (santri) at Pondok Pesantren Al-Chusnaini. This phenomenon may develop into addictive behavior if not addressed promptly. Boarding school administrators play an important role in preventing TikTok social media addiction among santri, as they act as parental figures within the pesantren environment. However, the results of interviews and observations revealed limited understanding among administrators and suboptimal supervision of santri’s TikTok usage patterns, which may potentially lead to addictive behavior. This study aims to ensure that the administrators of Pondok Pesantren Al-Chusnaini possess adequate understanding regarding the impacts and indicators of TikTok social media addiction among santri and are able to implement appropriate and persuasive preventive efforts within the boarding school setting through psychoeducational services. This research employed a quasi-experimental approach using a one-group pretest-posttest design. The instrument consisted of 23 items and demonstrated good reliability (α = 0.88). The participants were seven administrators of Pondok Pesantren Al-Chusnaini Sukodono. The psychoeducational intervention on preventing TikTok social media addiction was conducted in six sessions. The effectiveness of the intervention showed changes in scores following the psychoeducation program. The results of the paired-sample t-test indicated a significant difference between pretest and posttest scores (t = -5.332; p = 0.002).
