Abstract

Pedestrian paths function as a connecting system within a city and are closely related to open spaces. The role of open space is to serve as a buffer between buildings (Panduri & Suwandono, 2015). In the Bekasi city center, pedestrian paths face severalissues, such as damaged pathways along Ir. H. Juanda Street and the conversion of pedestrian areas into illegal parking zones and spaces for street vendors (PKL), whichsignificantly affect pedestrian comfort and safety (Saputra & Suwandono, 2022). Based on observations conducted in the Bekasi City Center, the walkability level was assessed using the IPEN Project method with four variables: entropy, Floor Area Ratio (FAR),Household Density density, and connectivity. The findings indicate that the walkability level, particularly in residential areas, remains inadequate and the pedestrian infrastructure is insufficient. Therefore, improvements to pedestrian pathways, especially in residential zones within the Bekasi city center, are necessary
