Abstract

Abstract: The increasingly frequent tidal flooding disasters in coastal areas of Indonesia require a relocation strategy that is not only physically safe but also takes into account the psychological aspects of the residents. This study aims to analyze the relationship between personality types based on the Hippocrates-Galen approach (sanguine, choleric, melancholic, and phlegmatic) and residents' preferences for permanent post-disaster housing in Dukuh Simonet, Wonokerto District, Pekalongan Regency. The method used is mixed methods with a qualitative dominance through field observations, questionnaires to 35 respondents, in-depth interviews with 8 participants, as well as literature studies and relevant agency data. The analysis was conducted using descriptive quantitative and qualitative models by Miles and Huberman, as well as the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method as a tool to determine the dominant factors influencing housing preferences. The results showed that the majority of the community had a phlegmatic character (60%), were adaptive, calm, and friendly, with a tendency to modify their homes according to functional needs. The main factors influencing preferences were the quality of infrastructure (clean water, sanitation, and drainage), followed by comfort and social aspects. In conclusion, the success of relocation is not only determined by the physical condition of the building, but also by psychological, social, and economic sustainability factors of residents as part of human-centered design.
