Abstract

In today’s fast-paced and ever-evolving world, technological advancements are rapidly transforming various sectors, and their impact is profoundly felt across multiple domains. The usefulness of technology and information is vast, with applications that touch almost every aspect of human life. As we witness these developments, the continuous progress in science becomes a key factor that drives innovation. By utilizing and refining existing knowledge, we can ensure that it functions optimally in addressing future challenges. In particular, the demand for electricity in industries is growing exponentially, necessitating well-distributed and efficient energy systems. One area where this need is crucial is in the optimization of electrical systems, specifically in propulsion engines, which play a significant role in community-based energy solutions. This research focuses on exploring the impact of noise on the optimization of control methods such as Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR) and Linear Quadratic Tracking (LQT) when applied to DC motor systems. The goal is to investigate how these advanced control methods can be adapted for community-scale energy applications, ensuring efficiency and sustainability in energy distribution, especially in rural or underserved areas. By evaluating the effects of external noise on system performance, this study seeks to provide insights that can improve the reliability and effectiveness of DC motors used in renewable energy systems for local communities. The findings will contribute to the ongoing efforts to innovate and optimize technology for community empowerment and sustainable energy solutions.

Abstract

The rapid advancements in technology today have led to a growing reliance on automated tools over manual human labor. One of the widely used actuators across various fields is the DC Motor. This paper focuses on integrating tools with Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR) and Linear Quadratic Tracker (LQT) approaches. LQR is an optimal control method applied to state-space-based systems. The LQR controller requires the definition of two parameters, namely the Q and R weighting matrices, which must be carefully determined to achieve optimal control actions as desired. Unlike the Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) controller, which features systematic tuning methods like Ziegler-Nichols and Cohen-Coon, the LQR controller lacks a dedicated systematic tuning methodology for determining the Q and R weighting matrices. The implementation of these approaches in this study aims to produce more efficient and effective outcomes, particularly in the context of community-based development programs. By optimizing the control systems used in community projects, this research contributes to enhancing the reliability and sustainability of technological solutions applied to improve societal well-being.

Abstract

Optimization techniques are essential tools for achieving the best possible outcomes in various fields, from engineering and economics to social sciences, including community empowerment. These techniques allow for optimal decision-making processes, especially in situations requiring minimal costs and maximum benefits. In the context of community service and empowerment, optimization techniques can enhance local initiatives, such as small-scale manufacturing, agricultural processes, and the development of community-based enterprises, by improving efficiency and reducing unnecessary costs. For example, in the design of infrastructure projects or the optimization of energy distribution systems, optimization techniques ensure that resources are used effectively to serve the community's needs. Moreover, by applying optimization methods, communities can enhance their self-sufficiency and contribute to sustainable development. The ability to minimize costs while maximizing utility can be a game-changer, particularly in underdeveloped areas where resources are limited. This research focuses on the optimization of a DC Motor 80BL using Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR) methods on MATLAB Simulink, offering an advanced solution for community empowerment applications. LQR provides an optimal input that results in state feedback, represented by a constant gain within the system’s state, which can significantly improve the efficiency of various mechanical systems used in community-driven projects. The application of these optimization methods in community development ensures that local industries and projects can operate at their highest potential.

Abstract

DC motors are widely utilized in industrial applications for their reliability and efficiency. To optimize their performance, it is crucial to employ control systems supported by mathematical modeling to predict motor responses under varying conditions. This study investigates the first- and second-order models of DC motors and examines the impact of internal disturbances (noise) on system performance. The output responses of two DC motors, the 42BLFX02 and Maxon EC-I 40 (70W), are compared under both undisturbed and noisy conditions using simulations. The results reveal that the second-order model offers a more stable response and better aligns with the desired target compared to the first-order model. Furthermore, the application of the Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR) control method significantly enhances the speed and accuracy of reaching the motor set point. However, when noise is introduced, the LQR method fails to maintain stability, and the motor's output starts to mirror the disturbance pattern. These findings highlight that while LQR is effective under ideal conditions, its performance diminishes when exposed to disturbances. Therefore, additional strategies are necessary to ensure stability and optimal performance in real-world conditions, particularly in environments with significant noise or disturbances.

Abstract

A DC motor is commonly utilized as an actuator due to its ability to produce high torque. Controlling the motor's speed is one of the primary methods to manage its performance. Among various wireless communication options, radio waves are preferred since they do not require a clear line of sight between the transmitter and receiver. Employing multiple antennas offers benefits such as enhanced reliability and increased data transmission rates. This study focuses on designing and simulating four types of systems: SISO, SIMO, MISO, and MIMO. The performance of these configurations is evaluated and compared using Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) and channel capacity, with variations in antenna count. Simulations were carried out in MATLAB to analyze how different antenna quantities (4, 8, and 16) affect channel capacity across an SNR range of 0 to 30 dB. The simulation outcomes reveal a substantial rise in system capacity, reaching up to 214 bits/Hz/sec when a 16x16 MIMO setup is applied at 30 dB SNR.
