Abstract

This paper tries to describe the issue of corruption which is still one of the latent and systemic problems for the Indonesian nation. Proven by corruption, many losses ultimately have an impact on society at large. Democracy has proven to be incapable of overcoming the problem. The democratic concept of limiting power and the role of the people as the highest ruler does not really make Indonesia, which is a democratic country, free from corruption cases. In fact, perpetrators of corruption crimes in Indonesia are dominated by those who have higher education. This picture shows that high education is not directly proportional to integrity and anti-corruption attitudes. Therefore, this study seeks to examine the importance of perceptions of integrity and anti-corruption attitudes among Generation Z in Salatiga City as the nation's successors in the future. Through descriptive quantitative research methods, the author obtained research results that Generation Z in Salatiga City has a good perception of anti-corruption attitudes which can be the basis for avoiding corrupt practices. Thus, the author concludes that the perception of integrity and anti-corruption culture has an important role in building and preventing attitudes that lead to corruption, especially among Generation Z in Salatiga City.

In addition, to support the arguments and data presented, the author uses the Hybrid Media System (HMS) as one of the approaches to understand how different types of media – both old and new media – interact with each other and compete in the process of production, distribution, and consumption of information. Abstract

This community service program aims to stregthen the digital literacy and cross-cultural understanding (CCU) os students at Satya Wacana Christian Junior High School as part of Generation Z, a group that is particularly vulnerable to hoaxes and disinformation in the digital democratic sphere. The program was implemented through a participatory training approach that combined interactive lectures, hoax simulations, groups discussions, and pre-test and post-test evaluations using Google Forms. The results indicate an improvement in participants’ ability to distinguish between hoaxes, misinformation, and disinformation, as well as increased awareness of the importance of information verification and tolerant attitudes toward cultural differences. These findings support Joseph DeVito’s theory of perception regararding the role of media stimulus in shaping perceptions and are also relevant to Jurgen Habermas’s concept of the deliberative public sphere. This program contributes a contextual, measurable, and easily replicable CCU-based digital literacy training model to support inclusive digital democracy.

Abstract

This community service program is part of the Kuliah Praktik Lapangan or Institutional Practice Lecture (KPK) Satya Wacana Christian University Salatiga, which aims to increase social awareness among youth and provide emotional support for the elderly at the Salib Putih Elderly Care Home. This activity uses a participatory approach through fundraising, short worship services, sharing sessions, personal prayer, and the distribution of basic necessities. Symbolic interactionism theory analysis is used to examine how social meaning is formed through direct interactions between youth and elderly, particularly through symbols, language, expressions, and actions carried out during the activity. These interactions create warm emotional bonds, strengthen mutual understanding, and foster empathy. The results of the activity show increased social solidarity, the development of caring characters in youth, and the creation of psychological comfort for the elderly. Overall, this program confirms that KPK activities are able to build social meaning and strengthen solidarity through the process of symbolic interaction.
