Abstract

Indonesia is a country that symbolizes plurality. The horizontal conflicts caused by ethnicity, race, and religion show that there is a crisis of national integration and social disharmony within the country. Conflicts in several regions in Indonesia provoked by several things, namely, lack of empathy, tolerance, and trust. However, this is different from what was shown in the border communities in Kalimantan. The result of the research which was conducted in April to June 2015 showed that the people in Indonesia-Malaysia border (especially in districts Jagoi Babang) were able to respect one another in the context of national integration. Living side by side despite their different citizenship is the evidence that they have mutual interaction in many fields such as the economy, education, and health. This condition creates social harmony among those communities. The main reason is that they feel as one family (kinship) under Dayak Bidayuh descent. This sense of belonging is as the result of local wisdom which is still being conducted among them, called ritual Gawai.

Abstract

Pasangan usia subur di Jawa Tengah  dari data pada tahun 2014 sampai dengan tahun 2018 lebih memutuskan untuk menggunakan alat kontrasepsi dengan metode modern daripada tradisional. Pilihan keputusan dari PUS pada alat kontrasepsi yang jangka pendek, yaitu dengan suntik sebanyak 29,6 %. Keputusan ini diambil karena prosedur suntik yang sederhana dan praktis.Disusul kemudian dengan menggunakan pil, IUD, susuk, vasektomi, tubektomi, kondom, dan terakhir suntik 1 bulan.Penelitian mengolah data sekunder dengan menggunaan teori Pengambilan Keputusan dari beberapa ahli dan dengan mensintesakan data kualitatif berdasarkan wawancara dengan beberapa partisipan, diperoleh hasil faktor-faktor diterminan yang mempengaruhi pegambilan keputusan PUS di Jawa Tengah dalam penggunaan alat kontrasepsi adalah pendidikan, jumlah anak, kekayaan. Dengan menggunakan analisis pengambilan keputusan Max Weber didapatkan bahwa pengambilan keputusan penggunaan alat kontrasepsi juga didasarkan pada tindakan rasional, tradisonal, tindak afektif dan nilai dari tindakan rasional.

Abstract

Indonesian citizens in the border of Indonesia and Timor Leste, particularly in Humusu-Wini village, NTT and the Sakato-Nepane district Oecusse, East Timor. Although these two areas are separated by different status of the country, the communities there always interact and visit each other. This research aims to explain local wisdom which motivates social harmony in the Indonesian border community of Timor Leste. To achieve these objectives, this study prioritizes methods such as participant-observation or direct participatory observation, interviews, literature review, and documents. The conclusions in Humusu Wini village, Insana Utara district, East Nusa Tenggara. From the results of the study, it was obtained that the local wisdom "Doa Arwah" as one of the ties of kinship between citizens who are now in different countries or across countries, so as to create social harmony

Abstract

Salatiga is known for its diversity as there are more than 33 tribes living harmoniously together in this city. The existence of two religious-based education institutions, i.e. Universitas Kristen Satya Wacana and Institut Agama Islam Negeri Salatiga further proves the diversity of this city that already exists. Moreover, Salatiga respectively gained the predicate as the most top 10 tolerant cities in Indonesia within three years from a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) that promotes tolerance. Based on functional-structural paradigm, society is assumed to be an organic system that has relationships among its parts to maintain the existing system. This study uses the constructivism approach with qualitative methods. The harmony established by CSOs, NGOs, the Government, and religious leaders through programs or activities is aimed to provide motivation and encouragement to the community or society so that they are able to maintain harmony amidst the diversity in Salatiga. Yet, it does not mean that there are no problems or obstacles threating this harmony such as the acts of radicalism from the groups originating from outside Salatiga. The radical groups are trying to mess the tolerance and harmony that has been established for a long time in Salatiga.

Abstract

Media sosial merupakan media yang paling banyak digunakan di Indonesia, salah satunya adalah instagtram. Instagram merupakan media yang dapat meng-upload foto dan video melalui instagram feed dan stories. Pengguna instagram dapat berinteraksi dengan pengguna lainnya dengan memberikan like dan komentar di foto dan video. Akan tetapi, pesan yang didapatkan bisa berupa pesan positif atau negatif. Dari pesan tersebut dapat menimbulkan efek yang berpengaruh pada kesehatan mental. Efek yang mempengaruhi kesehatan mental pengguna instagram dinamakan instagramxiety. Kesehatan mental instagramxiety akan menimbulkan perasaan bersalah, cemas, takut dan membanding-bandingkan diri sendiri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana pengaruh pengguna instagram terhadap kesehatan mental instagramxiety pada remaja di Kota Salatiga. Dalam penelitian ini menggunakan analisis regresi sederhana dengan menggunakan 100 responden. Hasil dari penelitian ini berdasarkan hipotesis tidak ada pengaruh pengguna instagram terhadap kesehatan mental instagramxiety pada remaja di Kota Salatiga. Akan tetapi, diperoleh determinasinya (R Square) 3,1% dapat dikatakan bahwa pengaruh pengguna instagram rendah atau kecil dampaknya terhadap kesehatan mental instagramxiety. Dapat dikatakan bahwa di Kota Salatiga dalam pengguna instagram tidak mempengaruhi kesehatan mental para penggunanya atau dapat dikatakan bahwa pengguna instagram yang tinggal di Kota Salatiga aman dari kesehatan mental. Hal ini dibuktikan dari penelitian sebelumnya yang berkaitan dengan instagram dengan kesehatan mental di Kota Salatiga yang memperoleh hasil yang rendah dari penelitian Pengaruh Penggunaan Instagram Stories terhadap Perilaku Phubbing pada Generasi Z di Kota Salatiga memperoleh 31,1% (Phang, 2020) dan penelitian Pengaruh Penggunaan Youtube dan Instagram terhadap FOMO pada Generasi Z Kota Salatiga memperoleh 19,48% (Asih, 2020).

Abstract

The community service activity of the students of Faculty of Communication and Social Sciences of Satya Wacana Christian University was done at the Village of ‘Family Planning’ Melati (Kampung Keluarga Berencana ‘KB’ Melati), this community service activity was supported by Women Empowerment, Child’s Protection, Population Control, and Family Planning Office (DP3APPKB) of Salatiga City. The community service is aimed to rebrand and to promote the Village and to increase the agriculture potencies of Kampung KB Melati. One of the programs which was already planned by the people and agencies related to the village is the thematic village where the people of Kampung KB Melati are going to plant and cultivate grapes in their graveyard this program is called Kampung Peng-Angguran (The Grape Village). Started from identifying the problems, making programs, and the implementation of the programs, the students were working to involve the people of the village. The programs that were planned by the students to support the Kampung Peng-Angguran programs were such as workshop to educate the people on how to plant the grape and the students also helped to facilitate to get the assistances from the government especially the Farming and Food Agency of Salatiga City.

Abstract

Instagram Stories is one of the main features of Instagram. Indonesia becomes one of the most active countries in using and creating Instagram Stories content compared to other countries.  However, the use of the Instagram Stories feature has raised concerns because of the daily activities, such as food consumed, holiday activities, and emotions that become the public consumptions by sharing moments using photos or videos through the Instagram Stories feature. When people use the feature on Instagram Stories to take moments and daily activities, this behavior triggers the ignorance of social interactions surrounding them because they only focus on creating Instagram Stories. The phenomenon of the moments’ preservation through Instagram Stories feature can create phubbing behavior as a definition that describes someone’s indifferent behavior in an environment. They tend to focus on their smartphones rather than interacting with their surroundings. This study was conducted to explore the influence of using Instagram Stories on Generation Z’s phubbing behavior in Salatiga city. It used quantitative methods with the linear regression technique. It used a purposive random sampling technique with 397 respondents as the samples. The result of this study showed that the use of Instagram Stories affects the phubbing behavior in Generation Z in Salatiga, as for the percentage of the influence of the variable use in Instagram Stories toward phubbing behavior is 31.1%. The rest, which is 68.9%, is affected by other factors outside of the use of Instagram Stories that were not conducted by the researchers

Abstract

Mass media has a big role in forming and changing society’s mind, feeling, attitude, opinion and behavior about women. However, women representation in mass media still shows negative stereotype. The existence of radio stations with female target audience which is aimed to empower women is a new hope for women related with the formation for positive image of women through the programs. Female Radio Semarang became one of the radio with female target audience who helped take the role in the formation of positive image of women through a program called Tupperware She Can! on Radio. All of their efforts are absolutely not separated from Female Radio Semarang ideology as a mass media based on gender perspective. This research will analyze how the discourse strategies that apply in the Tupperware She Can! on Radio in representing women. The type and the approaches of this research is a qualitative-descriptive methods with critical discourse analysis method which developed by Sara Mills, which is also often referred to as critical discourse analysis with ‘feminist’ perspective. By analyzing the transcript of the Tupperware She Can! on Radio, using Sara Mills theory on the subject-object position and the listener’s position, this study aims to describe the discourse strategies that apply in the Tupperware She Can! on Radio in representing women.The result of this thesis research shows that Female Radio Semarang through its program Tupperware She Can! on Radio has been trying to represent women positively. In the course Tupperware She Can! on Radio, women are not only positioned as the object but also given a lot opportunity to become the subject of conversation. As a result, the women representation that formed in the program showed a positive image. In the lead of role in the public sector (productive or social), women appear as a figure no less with men, yet in the domestic sector women still perform her responsibilities for carrying out her role as mother and wife as well. Abstract

Human are creatures of language, they use language as communication and allways use language, language can get idea, and wish in tho say the opinion and information. Human being as a society have communication and doing interaction use language, so language is a communication. Human have a lot of for communication, one of them is internet, internet like facebook. As human society, human want to do sociality and communication with them.  In communication process a people who have interaction in it must to want say a massage in order to the message can be understood by other people. Language is sign sound that is agreement to used by the member of society in corporation communication and identification.This study aims to describe the language style status updates on facebook and meaning of language status updates on facebook. This study will use qualitative research methods. The unit of observation to be examined is in facebook. The unit of analysis is to analyze the elements of communication such as words, paragraphs, themes and events that are coded to be performed generalization. This study will observe the update status of the motor in the Salatiga Mio. Quest for the meaning of the data analysis will be done by performing data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and verification.The results showed that this language update status facebook happened because there is no convention which role the way to write update status. Beside that, the factor like creativity, trend and the individu writer types.
