Abstract

Background (General): Racial discrimination in schools continues to hinder inclusive education, affecting students’ psychological, social, and academic growth. Background (Specific): In Indonesia’s multicultural setting, primary schools must implement national policies such as Kurikulum Merdeka and the Profil Pelajar Pancasila to foster tolerance and diversity, yet evidence from classroom practices remains limited. Knowledge Gap: While existing studies explore multicultural education, few provide empirical insights into how elementary school teachers address racial discrimination in real classroom interactions. Aim: This study investigates the role of teachers in preventing and mitigating racial discrimination at SD Negeri 100/II Muara Bungo, highlighting their strategies and challenges. Results: Findings show that teachers embed tolerance values in lessons, use personal approaches to support minority students, and foster collaborative, diversity-oriented classroom activities. However, they face barriers such as limited training, lack of systemic school support, and external social stereotypes. Novelty: The study uniquely combines empirical field data with the framework of national education reforms, offering localized strategies rooted in cultural practices and values of Pancasila. Implications: Strengthening teacher training, institutional policies, and whole-school collaboration is essential to building sustainable, inclusive learning environments that reduce racial discrimination from the earliest stages of education.Highlight : Teachers play a vital role in instilling values of tolerance in elementary schools. Key challenges include limited training and lack of institutional support. A whole-school approach is needed to create an inclusive environment. Abstract

General Background: Writing is a fundamental language skill that plays a crucial role in developing students’ critical and logical thinking. Specific Background: However, elementary school students often struggle with constructing coherent sentences due to limited vocabulary, lack of structural understanding, and low motivation in writing activities. Knowledge Gap: Previous studies on the Picture and Picture model mainly focused on reading comprehension, with limited exploration of its application in sentence writing, especially within the context of the Kurikulum Merdeka. Aims: This study aims to improve fourth-grade students’ sentence writing skills through the systematic application of the Picture and Picture learning model. Results: Conducted as a classroom action research in two cycles with 25 participants, the findings revealed significant improvements: teacher performance increased from 76.19% to 90.48%, student active participation rose from 24% to 44%, and sentence writing mastery improved from 68% to 84%. Novelty: The novelty lies in integrating the Picture and Picture model with the Kurikulum Merdeka, focusing on visual-based sentence construction in Bahasa Indonesia learning. Implications: These results suggest that Picture and Picture can serve as an effective pedagogical strategy to foster creativity, independence, and linguistic competence in primary education.Highlight : The Picture and Picture model improves sentence writing skills. Students become more active and participative. Learning outcomes increase from Cycle I to Cycle II. Abstract

General Background: Mathematics is a fundamental discipline that supports technological advancement and cognitive development, yet it remains challenging for many elementary students due to its abstract nature. Specific Background: Observations at SDN 12/II Empelu revealed that Grade IV students showed low learning outcomes, with 47% failing to reach the minimum mastery criteria, largely due to conventional teacher-centered approaches and lack of engaging media. Knowledge Gap: Previous studies have examined the effectiveness of cooperative learning models such as Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) or visual aids like puzzles separately, but few have integrated both strategies to address students’ conceptual and motivational difficulties in mathematics. Aims: This study aimed to improve mathematics learning processes and outcomes by combining the STAD model with puzzle media. Results: Conducted as Classroom Action Research in two cycles with 17 students, the findings indicated increased teacher performance (85% to 97%), student activeness (67% to 85%), and cognitive achievement (67% to 84%). Novelty: The research demonstrates the effectiveness of integrating STAD with puzzle media in mathematics learning within the Merdeka Curriculum, a combination not extensively studied in rural elementary contexts. Implications: This approach provides an innovative and practical strategy for fostering active, collaborative, and meaningful learning, offering a model that can be adapted for other mathematical topics and primary education settings.Highlight : STAD with puzzle media improved the learning process and student activeness. Teacher performance increased from good to very good between cycles. Student learning outcomes rose significantly from 67% to 84%.
