Abstract

Human Immunodeficiency Virus is a virus that attacks the human immune system. Whereas, Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome is a number of symptoms of a disease that results in a decrease in the immune system. HIV and AIDS is a global public health problem, if it is not immediately treated, it will have complications such as tuberculosis, cryptococcal meningitis, bacterial infections, lymphomas, Kaposi's sarcoma and even death. HIV infection in pregnant women can spread to their babies. Primary Health Center of Sleman Yogyakarta had 2 HIV positive pregnant women registered as patients in 2018 which were detected from the results of the PITC test. This study aimed to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge of pregnant women and attitudes towards PITC at Primary Health Center of Sleman Yogyakarta. The research was a quantitative research with Cross Sectional approach. The population was 312 pregnant women and 76 of them were taken as respondents who had given the PITC examination. The sampling technique was done by Quota Sampling on all pregnant women. Data were analysed through bivariate analysis using Kendall Tau. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between the level of knowledge of pregnant women about HIV / AIDS and attitudes toward PITC at Sleman Primary Health Center of Yogyakarta with p value (0.001) and r correlation coefficient of 0.360 which indicated a low closeness relationship. Most of respondents had a good level of knowledge about HIV / AIDS and had a good attitude towards PITC. Midwives are expected to be able to convince pregnant women to undergo HIV / AIDS screening and increase promotion of HIV / AIDS.

Abstract

Abstract

Newborns are at risk of losing body heat after birth. According to UNICEF, the global infant mortality rate is still worrying, in Sub-Saharan Africa, of 29 deaths per 1,000 births. It means that 80% of deaths are caused by asphyxia, complications at birth, hypothermia, and sepsis. In Indonesia, the causes of death for newborns 0-6 days include respiratory disorders (36.9%), prematurity (32.4%), sepsis (12%), hypothermia (6.8%,) and jaundice (6.6%). Evidence suggests some technological interventions in preventing hypothermia in newborns, such as skin-to-skin contact between mother and baby. This study aimed to explore available technological evidence regarding the effectiveness of IMD in the prevention of hypothermia in newborns. The review is based on the integrative review method by following the modified design it consists of identifying topics, identifying problems/questions, collecting data with relevant evidence, evaluating data, analyzing, and interpreting data, concluding, and presenting results. PRISMA flow diagram is used to show the flow of evidence search. The results of the review included 10 articles. From the review, three facts were discovered, namely, EIB can increase temperature, increase breastfeeding levels, and increase low weight loss in the baby's first days. Infant mortality can be prevented with the role of trained health workers during ANC, delivery/postnatal, and EIB during the first/two hours of postpartum to prevent hypothermia.

Abstract

Human Immunodeficiency Virus is a virus that attacks the human immune system. Meanwhile, Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome is a collection of symptoms of a disease that results in a decline in the immune system. Based on data reported by the Ministry of Health, HIV/AIDS cases in Indonesia were recorded as many as 36,902 people infected with HIV/AIDS in January-December 2021. The number of HIV/AIDS cases in Indonesia from 2011 to 2021 continues to fluctuate, with the largest number of HIV cases occurring in 2019, namely 50,282 people, and the largest number of AIDS cases occurring in 2013, namely 12,214 people. Despite continuing to fluctuate, Indonesia itself is estimated to have 21% of the 5,701 reported HIV/AIDS cases in women. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between knowledge and attitudes of adolescent girls towards HIV/AIDS prevention and transmission at SMA Negeri 1 OKU. The research method used quantitative, which is an analytical survey with a cross-sectional approach. The research sample of 55 was taken by purposive sampling. The research location was at SMA Negeri 1 OKU. The results of the Kendall Tau analysis showed that the p value was 0.000 or p value <0.05, which means there is a significant relationship between knowledge and attitudes about HIV/AIDS prevention in female adolescents at SMA Negeri 1 OKU. The results of the correlation coefficient value of 0.096 in this test indicate that there is a very low closeness relationship. It is hoped that schools or health workers will provide counseling about HIV/AIDS to female students at SMA Negeri 1 OKU so that female students have knowledge so they can prevent or avoid HIV/AIDS and other infectious diseases.

Abstract

Eco-pharmaceuticals are an emerging solution in the pharmaceutical industry, aimed at reducing environmental impacts through sustainable production, distribution, and disposal practices. The growing concern over pharmaceutical waste, especially in low-resource settings, highlights the need for greener alternatives. Pharmaceutical residues, often not fully removed during conventional wastewater treatments, contribute significantly to water pollution and disrupt aquatic ecosystems. Eco-pharmaceuticals address these issues by using biodegradable materials, environmentally friendly production methods, and safer disposal techniques, thereby reducing the persistence of pharmaceutical contaminants in the environment. Life-Cycle Assessment (LCA) is an essential methodology used to evaluate the environmental impact of pharmaceutical products, considering all stages from raw material extraction to end-of-life disposal. The results of LCA show that eco-pharmaceuticals significantly reduce water pollution potential and carbon emissions when compared to conventional drugs. Additionally, they offer a more resource-efficient alternative by minimizing waste generation during production and ensuring safer end-of-life disposal. Despite the clear environmental benefits, challenges remain in transitioning to eco-pharmaceuticals, particularly in low-resource settings where infrastructure for waste management is limited. Cost and availability of eco-pharmaceuticals may also pose barriers to widespread adoption. However, with appropriate policy interventions, public education, and technological innovations, these challenges can be addressed. This study underscores the potential of eco-pharmaceuticals in mitigating environmental degradation while offering a sustainable and cost-effective alternative to traditional pharmaceuticals, particularly in regions most vulnerable to pollution.
