Abstract

This study analyzes spatiotemporal changes in land use and land cover (LULC) in Banjarbaru City over a twenty-year period (2002–2022) to examine the reorganization of its urban spatial structure in relation to economic growth, housing demand, and environmental conditions. Multi-temporal land cover data from the GLC-FCS30D dataset were processed on the Google Earth Engine platform, reclassified into seven dominant land-cover categories, and validated using 180 stratified validation points cross-checked against high-resolution satellite imagery. The mapped patterns indicate that built-up areas expanded from a compact urban core into a continuous urban fabric, while plantation and shrubland/forest cover declined substantially and agricultural land increased in spatial extent toward the urban periphery. Open and bare land also expanded as transitional land states associated with ongoing development. These trajectories correspond to broader structural changes documented in regional economic and housing studies, including increased residential land absorption driven by public housing affordability programs and shifts in sectoral economic contribution. The spatial restructuring of green and wetland areas indicates increasing fragmentation and reduced ecological buffering, aligning with research demonstrating declining carbon storage and heightened hydrological sensitivity as vegetated land is converted to urban surfaces. The results present a comprehensive characterization of Banjarbaru’s land transition dynamics and provide a spatial basis for evaluating urban planning, green space management, and sustainability strategies.

Abstract

This study examines how Senior High Schools (SMA) and Vocational High Schools (SMK) are distributed across Kepulauan Yapen Regency using Geographic Information Systems (GIS). School location data were taken from the Ministry of Education and verified through Google Maps, while administrative maps were obtained from the Geospatial Information Agency (BIG). Spatial analysis was carried out in ArcGIS Pro using the Average Nearest Neighbor (ANN), Mean Center, Standard Distance, and Standard Deviational Ellipse tools. The results show that the observed mean distance between schools is smaller than the expected mean distance, with a nearest-neighbor ratio of 0.779877, a z-score of −1.975184, and a p-value of 0.048247. These figures indicate that the distribution pattern is clustered at the 95% confidence level. The analysis also shows that most schools are concentrated along the southern coastal area, particularly around Serui in Yapen Selatan District, while the northern and outer island areas have fewer facilities and wider spacing between them. This shows that students in remote areas face relatively limited access to upper secondary education.

Abstract

Motivasi kunjungan wisatawan ke destinasi wisata malam dipengaruhi oleh berbagai faktor yang bekerja secara simultan, meliputi dorongan internal serta rangsangan eksternal yang berkaitan dengan citra destinasi. Batu Night Spectacular (BNS) sebagai objek wisata malam menghadirkan kombinasi atraksi visual, wahana hiburan, serta aktivitas rekreasi keluarga yang berpotensi mempengaruhi keputusan berkunjung. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif deskriptif melalui penyebaran kuesioner kepada 30 responden yang dipilih secara acak di lokasi penelitian, disertai observasi lapangan untuk mencatat kondisi fisik dan aktivitas pengunjung. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan perhitungan statistik deskriptif berupa rata-rata skor pada setiap indikator motivasi. Hasil pengukuran menunjukkan bahwa pengaruh ulasan media sosial memperoleh skor tertinggi, diikuti oleh dorongan rekreasi keluarga serta ketertarikan terhadap suasana malam, sementara motivasi terkait wahana permainan dan kuliner berada pada tingkat yang relatif lebih rendah namun tetap berada dalam kategori tinggi.

Abstract

Rapid urbanization in peri-urban regions has accelerated land use change, particularly through the expansion of built-up areas in locations adjacent to urban growth centers. Karanganyar Regency, which lies within the development influence of the Surakarta metropolitan region, has experienced increasing spatial pressure driven by residential expansion, economic activities, and improved regional accessibility. These conditions highlight the need for spatial monitoring of built-up area change to identify patterns of regional development over time. This study aims to identify changes in built-up areas in Karanganyar Regency during the 2015–2025 period. The analysis uses Landsat 8 OLI Surface Reflectance imagery processed through the Google Earth Engine platform, including stages of image selection based on study area boundaries and cloud cover, reflectance conversion, calculation of the Normalized Difference Built-up Index (NDBI), and classification of index values into four categories: non-building, sparse built-up, dense built-up area, and very dense building. The results show that the non-building class still dominates the regional area but decreased from 775.912 km² in 2015 to 739.897 km² in 2025. During the same period, all built-up classes increased in area, including sparse built-up from 20.436 km² to 44.816 km², dense built-up area from 5.989 km² to 16.514 km², and very dense building from 0.928 km² to 2.031 km². The spatial distribution of these changes indicates that built-up expansion tends to concentrate in western parts of the regency bordering Surakarta City and along major transportation corridors.
