Abstract

Baptism and discipleship are two things that cannot be separated. In the Great Commission of the Lord Jesus, they are intertwined. One of the concepts contained in baptism is union with Christ found in Romans 6:3-6. This is an important theme that believers must understand, especially through discipleship. On the other hand, the author sees the dominance of the Javanese tribe among the Indonesian population. This dominance occurs in the government, economic sectors, and church life. This fact drives this research to actualize contextual discipleship carried out by the Church towards Javanese congregations. One of the concepts of Javanese thought with a common theme of human unity with God is the concept of manunggaling kawulo gusti. Through the literature research method, this concept is explored in depth. This exploration will be seen and interpreted from the baptism perspective in Romans 6:3-6. As a result, there are points of convergence as well as points of difference. The findings obtained will then become material for the actualization of contextual discipleship in Javanese society.

Abstract

The sophistication of digital-based technology and communication has shaped a new culture that fundamentally changes the way humans relate to and understand reality, including in their spiritual lives. The Church, as a community of faith, is challenged to redefine its mission of proclaiming the Gospel to align with the dynamic and complex communication patterns of the digital generation. Unfortunately, many online evangelisation practices remain technical in nature and lack deep theological reflection. Millennials and Gen Z, as digital natives, show an interest in spirituality but feel disconnected from church institutions perceived as irrelevant. This study aims to develop a theology of mission to address the dynamics of digital evangelisation among these younger generations. Through a qualitative approach based on literature review, the conclusion of this study states that digital theology becomes a new foundation for relevant Gospel proclamation in the virtual era, especially in reaching Millennials and Gen Z who live in a digital culture. Online evangelism practices require the development of contextual, ethical, and authentic message-based digital missiology. Therefore, the church needs to reformulate its mission theology as a form of incarnational, dialogical, and transformative witness in the midst of an ever-evolving virtual world.

Abstract

The post-truth era presents serious challenges to evangelism, as truth is increasingly understood subjectively through opinion, emotion and relativism. This shift undermines the authority of the Gospel in the public sphere and prompts the church to rethink its missiological approach in light of the disruption caused by the digital culture. This study aims to reconstruct the evangelism paradigm through a contextual framework of digital mission theology for the post-truth era. The research employs a qualitative method with a literature review approach, examining mission theology, digital culture, and the dynamics of post-truth society. The findings indicate that evangelism remains a divine mandate rooted in the truth of the Gospel, yet requires a reflective, communicative, and adaptive approach to digital developments. Furthermore, digital mission theology is viewed as the church’s strategic response to presenting the Christian witness amidst a disruptive culture. The novelty of this article lies in the contextual integration of mission theology and digital approaches in addressing the challenges of the post-truth era.
