Abstract

Purpose of the study: this research intends to explore how reflective practice is being perceived and applied within an elite English football academy setting. Specifically, it aims to investigate how key staff, working as part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT), interpret and implement The FA’s Plan-Do-Review model. Furthermore, how do academies mobilise reflective practice according to the values and unique cultural environment of the Club under the auspices of the Premier League’s Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP). Methodology: The study used a qualitative approach with semi-structured interviews involving twelve MDT members. Moon’s Model of Reflection and The FA’s Plan-Do-Review framework guided thematic analysis using manual coding. Main Findings: Findings indicate that 1) There is a disconnect between the understanding and learning of reflective practice through coach education courses and its application within the real world. 2) Reflective practice should be nurtured and developed through strong networks and interprofessional collaboration, utilising communities of practice and mentoring relationships both in and outside the work environment. 3) The different disciplines working within an MDT will engage in reflection to varying depths and levels. Rather than viewing reflection on a hierarchical scale, the level and method of reflection should be determined by the individual, their experiences, and the context. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study provides empirical insight into real-world reflective practice among sports professionals, offering a novel multidisciplinary perspective and practical recommendations for coach education and academy policy.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: This study aims to analyze and formulate sustainable tourism development strategies for Apparalang Beach in Bulukumba Regency to strengthen tourism competitiveness through the identification of tourism potential, infrastructure conditions, community participation, and environmental sustainability factors affecting destination development. Methodology: This study employed a descriptive qualitative case study approach using SWOT analysis. Data were collected through field observation, semi-structured interviews, documentation, and literature review. Research instruments included observation sheets, interview guidelines, field notes, cameras, and audio recorders. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman interactive analysis model consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Main Findings: The findings revealed that Apparalang Beach possesses strong tourism potential due to its unique coral cliff landscapes, marine scenery, and increasing tourism popularity. However, tourism development remains constrained by limited infrastructure, inadequate facilities, weak tourism management, and insufficient community participation. SWOT analysis indicated that tourism competitiveness can be improved through infrastructure development, digital tourism promotion, community empowerment, environmental conservation, and integrated stakeholder collaboration. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study provides a comprehensive SWOT-based sustainable tourism development framework integrating tourism potential, infrastructure conditions, community participation, environmental sustainability, and destination competitiveness simultaneously. The study advances tourism development research by offering integrated strategic recommendations for coastal tourism management and sustainable destination competitiveness in regional tourism contexts.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of physiotherapy management using Ultrasound, Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation, and Exercise Therapy in reducing pain, increasing muscle strength, improving physical activity, and enhancing functional ability in patients with medial meniscus tear knee sinistra. Methodology: This study used a descriptive case study approach conducted at RSP Dr. Ario Wirawan Salatiga. The subject was one patient diagnosed with medial meniscus tear knee sinistra. Data collection techniques included observation, interview, and functional examination using Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), Manual Muscle Testing (MMT), and Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS). Physiotherapy interventions included Ultrasound, Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation, isometric exercise, and closed kinetic chain exercise. Main Findings: The results showed decreased pain intensity after four therapy sessions, with silent pain decreasing from 1 to 0, tenderness from 4 to 1, and movement pain from 5 to 2 based on VAS measurements. Muscle strength improved from grade 4 to 5 using MMT assessment. Functional ability also increased significantly, indicated by KOOS scores improving from 79% to 94% following physiotherapy interventions. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study integrates Ultrasound, Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation, isometric exercise, and closed kinetic chain exercise in managing medial meniscus tear conditions. The study provides practical evidence regarding the combined effectiveness of electrotherapy and therapeutic exercise in improving pain reduction, muscle strength, and functional recovery among adolescent patients with knee meniscus injuries
