Abstract

Background: Advances in digital technology have a major impact on the lifestyle of adolescents, especially in the use of gadgets. Gadgets provide easy access to information, including age-inappropriate sexual content. This phenomenon has led to an increase in teenage sexual behavior such as holding hands, hugging, kissing, and premarital sexual intercourse. The lack of sex education and parental supervision makes teenagers more vulnerable to the negative influence of gadgets. Objective: To determine and analyze the influence of gadgets use on the sexual behavior of class X adolescents at SMAN 1 Kota Palangka Raya. Methods: This study used an analytic quantitative approach with a Cross-Sectional design. A sample of 85 students was taken using total sampling technique. Data collection was done using a closed questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the Chi-Square test to see the influence between variables. Results: The statistical test results showed a P-value of 0.028 <0.05, which means there is a significant influence between the use of gadgets and adolescent sexual behavior at SMAN 1 Kota Palangka Raya. Conclusion: There is a significant influence between gadgets use and adolescent sexual behavior. Therefore, active involvement from parents, teachers, and public health workers is needed to provide education and supervision of gadgets use by adolescents to prevent risky sexual behavior.

Abstract

Stunting is a disorder that affects the growth and development of toddlers, characterised by the child's length or height not being commensurate with that of the same age. The existence of mothers of toddlers who do not understand how to prevent stunting, especially in terms of food processing, meeting nutritional needs, and the importance of monitoring child growth and development, will affect the incidence of stunting. Objective: This research was conducted to determine the relationship between mothers' knowledge and stunting prevention behaviours in toddlers. Method: The research method used was quantitative with a correlational study design and a cross-sectional design. The sample in this study consisted of 45 mothers of toddlers selected using purposive sampling techniques. The analysis performed was univariate and bivariate using Spearman's rank test. Result: This research showed the results of the Spearman's rank test, obtained (p = 0.003 <α = 0.05). This means there was a correlation between maternal knowledge and stunting prevention behaviour on toddlers in the BLUD UPT Puskesmas Palangka Raya working area. Conclusion: Mothers with a basic understanding of stunting tend to have implemented most stunting prevention practices, such as exclusive breastfeeding, appropriate complementary feeding, and growth monitoring in toddlers, although not yet optimal. Therefore, efforts to reduce the prevalence of stunting through primary prevention must be further enhanced by optimising health promotion so that mothers gain a deeper understanding and broader knowledge of stunting and implement preventive behaviour appropriately.

Abstract

According to data from the Central Kalimantan Provincial Health Office, in 2024, there were 463 recorded cases of anemia among adolescent girls aged 12 to 16 years. A lack of knowledge about anemia can negatively affect teenage health, such as decreased immunity, reduced physical fitness, stunted growth and development, lower motivation to learn, and academic performance. If not addressed early, anemia poses risks of complications during future pregnancy and childbirth, such as bleeding, and can contribute to increased maternal and infant mortality rates. Objective: This study aims to identify the effect of health promotion about anemia through educational video media on increasing knowledge among 8th-grade female students at SMPN 7. Method: This research used a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest type of research. The sample in this research amounted to 42 respondents. The sampling technique used was proportional sampling. The data analysis used the Wilcoxon test. Result: This research showed the results of the Wilcoxon test, obtained (p value = 0.000 or p <0.05). This means there was a significant influence on providing health promotion about anemia through educational video media towards improving knowledge for grade 8 students at SMPN 7 Palangka Raya. Conclusion: The health promotion using educational video media has proven to be effective in increasing understanding of adolescent girls because it could encourage adolescent girls to be more focused on receiving information, could increase learning interest, and help adolescent girls understand health material more comprehensively.

Abstract

Menstruation is a biological process that occurs periodically in females and can be influenced by various factors, one of which is stress level. Adolescence is a period that is vulnerable to stress due to academic, social, and emotional pressures. Prolonged stress can disrupt hormonal balance, especially hormones that regulate the menstrual cycle, such as estrogen and progesterone, potentially causing irregular menstrual cycles. Objective: To determine the correlation between stress level and the menstrual cycle on the tenth-grade female adolescents at SMA Negeri 1 Palangka Raya.Method: This research used a quantitative method with a Cross-Sectional approach. The population consisted of all tenth-grade female students at SMA Negeri 1 Palangka Raya, totaling 280 individuals. A sample of 74 respondents was selected using Accidental Sampling. The instruments used were the Depression Anxiety Stress Scales (DASS 42) to measure stress levels and a menstrual cycle questionnaire to assess menstrual regularity. Data were analyzed using the Chi-Square test. Results: The results showed that most respondents experienced mild to moderate stress levels, and the majority had irregular menstrual cycles. Statistical analysis showed a p-value= 0.00 < 0.05, indicating a significant correlation between stress level and menstrual cycles. Conclusion: There was a significant correlation between stress level and menstrual cycles in fremale adulescent. The support from schools and families was needed to help adolescents manage stress and maintain reproductive health. Future researchers were encouraged to investigate other factors that may affect the menstrual cycle.
