Abstract

Examination of the femur bone for femur fracture at the Radiology Installation of RSUP dr. Sardjito Yogyakarta was performed using a lateral projection with the central ray angled 30 degrees towards the cranial direction. However, according to several theories, it is stated that the use of lateral projection does not involve angling the central ray. The purpose of this study is to understand the examination procedure for femur bone fractures and the reasons for using the lateral projection at the Radiology Installation of RSUP dr. Sardjito Yogyakarta. The research method used in this study is qualitative research with a descriptive method and a case study approach. The research was conducted at the Radiology Installation of RSUP dr. Sardjito Yogyakarta in February-March 2025 with research subjects consisting of 3 radiographers and 1 radiology specialist doctor. The data collection methods used were observation, interviews, documentation, and literature study. Data analysis was carried out by data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and then conclusions were drawn. The results of the study show how radiographic examination of the femur in fracture cases at RSUP dr. Sardjito uses Anteroposterior and Lateral Crosstable projections to obtain optimal visualization of the anatomy of the femur, especially in uncooperative patients. The Lateral Crosstable technique was chosen because it allows clearer visualization of the proximal part of the femur without having to move the injured extremity.

Abstract

RSUD (Regional General Hospital) Banyumas is a healthcare institution offering radiology services, such as head CT scans for trauma cases. The application of CT scan pitch parameters is essential for generating high-quality images while reducing the radiation exposure to the patient. This study employed a descriptive qualitative methodology utilizing a case study approach. The author presents an analysis of low pitch utilization in head CT scans for trauma cases at RSUD Banyumas. The research was carried out between May and June 2025. The participants included three radiographers and one radiologist. The methods employed for data collection comprised observation, interviews, and documentation. The study results demonstrate that the CT scan procedure for head trauma at RSUD Banyumas was executed with the patient in a supine head-first position and a pitch parameter set at 0.55. Employing a lower pitch enhances image detail and noise, although with the potential for increased radiation exposure. This study concludes that appropriate pitch utilization in head trauma CT scans at RSUD Banyumas significantly affects image quality.

Abstract

The digestive system is a series of organs functioning in the processes of intake, digestion, nutrient absorption, and metabolic waste excretion. The large intestine, as a vital part of the digestive system, plays a crucial role in water absorption and fecal formation. Disorders of the large intestine, such as ileus, can obstruct the movement of gastrointestinal contents, necessitating medical intervention, including ileostomy procedures. Lopography or barium enema, is a radiological examination used to evaluate the large intestine using contrast media inserted via a catheter trough the stoma. The contrast medium used is barium sulfate, administered trough the proximal stoma, distal stoma, and the anus. This study exmploys a qualitative method with a case study approach. It aims to determine the procedure for combined lopography and colon in loop examination in post ileustomi clinical cases. Data collection was conducted from September 2025 to April 2026 through observastion, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis included data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The result indicated that specific preparations were required prior to the examination, using 150 g of barium sulfate dissolved in 1.000 ml of water as the contrast medium. The projections used were plain AP, AP post contrast, RPO, and lateral. post evacuation imaging was not performed as the required diagnostic information was deemed sufficient. Furthermore, this decision considered patient comfort, time efficiency, and the minimization of unnecessary radiation exposure to the patient

Abstract

ABSTRACT Lopography examination in pediatric patients with clinical post-colostomy Hirschsprung is performed to obtain images of colonic anatomy and contrast-medium distribution as a basis for evaluating the patient’s condition before further management. This study aimed to describe the lopography examination procedure and the rationale for not performing post-evacuation imaging in pediatric patients with clinical post-colostomy Hirschsprung. A descriptive qualitative method with a case study approach was employed at the Radiology Installation of RSD K.R.M.T. Wongsonegoro Semarang from September 2025 to May 2026. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and literature review involving three radiographers and one radiologist. The findings showed that patient preparation included data verification, cleaning of the stoma area, removal of the stoma bag, changing clothes, and completion of informed consent. The contrast medium consisted of iodine water-soluble contrast and NaCl at a ratio of 1:4, while imaging was performed using plain AP, AP post-contrast, and lateral projections. Post-evacuation imaging was not performed because the contrast medium was water-soluble and could be expelled from the body, while radiation exposure was also considered in view of the patient’s pediatric age. The examination provided visualization of contrast-medium distribution in the proximal and distal colon and information regarding the colonic condition in the observed case.
