Abstract

This study aims to examine the communication style used by Ustadzah Halimah Alaydrus in her da’wah (Islamic preaching) as well as to understand the meanings perceived by female congregants regarding the da’wah messages delivered during the grand study at Patriot Candrabhaga Stadium, Bekasi City, on May 12, 2025. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collection techniques including in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation. The analysis applied David K. Berlo’s SMCR (Source, Message, Channel, Receiver) theory, further expanded with the source components of ethos, logos, and pathos to illustrate the reciprocal interaction between the communicator (preacher) and the communicatees (congregants). The findings indicate that Ustadzah Halimah Alaydrus’s da’wah communication style is persuasive, gentle, and empathetic, facilitating the reception of da’wah messages among female congregants. Verbally, she emphasizes polite and logical language, while nonverbally she demonstrates calm facial expressions, harmonious body movements, and warm eye contact. The choice of a stadium as an open preaching venue provides a strong mass communication effect, accommodating thousands of congregants in a religious atmosphere despite being a non-religious public space. The meanings understood by female congregants include enhanced religious understanding, motivation for spiritual migration (hijrah), and the strengthening of modern Muslim women’s spirituality. Thus, Ustadzah Halimah Alaydrus’s communication style significantly influences the delivery of Islamic values in a humanistic, rational, and heartfelt manner

Abstract

This study examines the crisis communication strategy of PT Unilever Indonesia Tbk in responding to the boycott calls arising from the Palestine-Israel conflict during 2023-2024. The approach used is qualitative with a case study method, collecting data through in-depth interviews. The findings reveal that the company responded quickly with a dedicated team actively monitoring and managing the issue. The communication strategy emphasized transparency, empathy, and adjustment to the cultural sensitivities and social values of the local community. Effective coordination within the organization was also a key factor in delivering consistent and effective messages to the public and business partners. Through these efforts, Unilever succeeded in building a clear and factual narrative that helped to calm public anxiety and panic. The strategy reflects the adaptive application of the Situational Crisis Communication Theory (SCCT), managing the crisis by balancing global business interests with Indonesia's local values. Overall, the communication was not only focused on direct problem-solving but also on building long-term relationships with the public through transparent and culturally sensitive communication. This approach proved effective in maintaining the company’s reputation amid a complex and dynamic crisis.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology presents fundamental challenges in child-rearing dynamics, particularly in parent-child communication in the digital era. This community service activity aims to enhance parents’ abilities in managing communication, parenting, and supervision of children’s gadget use. The program was implemented in Matagara Village, targeting parents struggling with screen time management, establishing gadget rules, and maintaining warm, empathetic, and constructive dialogue with their children. The method employed was Participatory Action Research (PAR), consisting of problem identification through Focus Group Discussions (FGD), intervention via a ±4-hour seminar “Parenting Communication in the Digital Era” using interactive lectures, case studies, group discussions, and Q&A sessions, and impact evaluation through pre-tests, participatory observation, and follow-up interviews. Results indicated improved parental communication competence in knowledge, attitudes, and skills. Before the seminar, most participants lacked understanding of digital parenting and did not have home gadget rules, whereas after the seminar, they began setting time limits, practicing dialogical two-way communication, and increasing open conversations with their children about digital activities. These findings confirm that community-based educational interventions through participatory parenting seminars effectively strengthen family capacity to develop adaptive parenting while supporting the growth of more resilient, digitally literate children.

Abstract

Effective organizational communication is essential for the smooth operation of school activities; however, challenges arise in utilizing digital media and the quality of interpersonal interactions among teachers in supporting school goals. This study aims to examine the influence of WhatsApp use and teachers’ interpersonal communication, both partially and simultaneously, on the quality of organizational communication at Rahmania Islamic School. A quantitative correlational approach was used, involving 38 respondents via saturated sampling. Hypothesis testing employed t-tests and F-tests. The results show that the t-value for WhatsApp Use exceeds the t-table value of 1.687, indicating a significant influence of WhatsApp Use on the Quality of Organizational Communication. Conversely, the t-value for Teachers’ Interpersonal Communication is less than 1.687, indicating no significant effect on organizational communication quality. However, simultaneously, WhatsApp Use and Teachers’ Interpersonal Communication together have a significant influence on the Quality of Organizational Communication, with an F-value exceeding 2.87. Conclusion: WhatsApp and interpersonal communication enhance the school’s ability to manage information and boost teacher motivation, satisfaction, and loyalty.
