Abstract

Background: Stunting is a strategic issue in human resource development with a multidimensional nature. In South Konawe Regency, the prevalence of stunting reached 36.6% in 2023, representing a significant increase compared to the previous year. This condition indicates the limited effectiveness of single-sector approaches in efforts to reduce stunting. Objectives: This study aims to explore the effectiveness of a multisectoral and collaborative approach in the management of stunting, particularly through the implementation of social assistance and social protection programs. Methods: This study employed a qualitative approach with a case study design conducted in 13 stunting locus villages across eight sub-districts. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with 39 informants, including village heads, posyandu cadres, midwives, and parents of stunted children, complemented by field observations and document review. Data analysis was carried out through thematic reduction, narrative data presentation, and verification using source and method triangulation. Results: The findings indicate that social assistance and social protection interventions contribute positively to improving household access to nutrition, health services, and family capacity building. However, the effectiveness of program implementation remains constrained by weak intersectoral coordination, inaccuracies in beneficiary data, and low levels of program integration at the village level. Conversely, collaborative practices among local stakeholders particularly community health cadres, village governments, and beneficiary families were identified as key factors in strengthening the stunting management ecosystem. Conclusion: Addressing stunting requires the strengthening of integrated and collaborative governance across sectors, supported by accurate data systems and active community engagement. A sustainable multisectoral approach is a critical prerequisite for enhancing the effectiveness of stunting management at the local level.

Abstract

Background: Dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) remains an endemic vector-borne disease in Indonesia, characterized by substantial annual fluctuations and recurrent outbreaks, particularly during the rainy season. East Java Province continues to contribute a considerable burden of reported DHF cases, underscoring the need for epidemiological profiling to support targeted control efforts. Objective: This study aimed to describe the temporal and spatial distribution of DHF cases in East Java Province during 2018–2020 and to summarize case patterns according to selected demographic and contextual indicators. Methods: A quantitative descriptive study with a time-series approach was conducted using secondary data. DHF case data were obtained from the East Java Provincial Health Profile (2018–2020). Climate variables (air temperature, relative humidity, rainfall, and sunshine duration) and population density data were retrieved from the Central Statistics Agency for the same period. Data were analyzed descriptively to assess year-to-year changes and distributions by time and district/city, and stratified by sex where available. Results: The number of DHF cases in East Java showed an overall increase from 2018 to 2020, although the pattern was unstable across years and varied substantially between districts/cities. Higher case concentrations were observed in several areas, reflecting heterogeneous transmission dynamics potentially associated with population density and seasonal climatic conditions. Conclusion: DHF burden in East Java increased during 2018–2020 with pronounced spatiotemporal variation. These findings support strengthening routine surveillance, climate-informed early warning, and community-based vector control to enhance prevention and response. Abstract

Background: Access to clean water is a fundamental right essential for public health, but air pollution by pathogens, heavy metals, and organic particles remains a global risk. Air treatment processes such as conventional coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, filtration, and disinfection are essential to ensure safe air quality. This study examines the effectiveness of these processes based on current research. Objectives: The purpose of this article is to analyze relevant literature on clean water treatment for public health through a literature review on coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, filtration, and disinfection. Method: This study uses a systematic literature review method by analyzing 25 related national and international journals from Google Scholar published between 2020-2025. Results: Efficient coagulation reduced turbidity by up to 90% using natural coagulants like moringa oleifera. Sedimentation and filtration removed 95% of microorganisms. Treatment using UV light and chlorine has been shown to reduce the risk of diarrhea by up to 70% in rural areas. Innovations such as nanomaterials are improving the process. Conclusion: Processing. Combining traditional processes with modern technologies is necessary to address the challenges of climate change and urbanization, thus supporting SDG 6 and public health. However, the application of environmentally friendly technologies is necessary to achieve sustainability. Recommendations include regular monitoring and local adjustments. Abstract

Background: Diarrhea remains a major public health problem in Indonesia, particularly in coastal and island regions with limited access to sanitation. The low ownership of healthy latrines is an environmental factor contributing to the high incidence of diarrhea. South Buton Regency, especially the working area of Batuatas Health Center, has challenging coastal geographical conditions, making it vulnerable to sanitation and environmental health problems. Objective: This study aims to describe the distribution of access to healthy latrines and the incidence of diarrhea in the working area of Batuatas Health Center during the period 2022–2024, based on secondary data from the Health Center Profile Methods: This is a quantitative descriptive study using secondary data from the Batuatas Health Center Profile. The data analyzed include the percentage of households with healthy latrines and the incidence rate of diarrhea across all age groups. The analysis was conducted using tables and graphs to interpret patterns and trends narratively. Result: The coverage of healthy latrines decreased from 77.45% in 2022 to 64.04% in 2024. Conversely, the incidence of diarrhea increased from 23.15 per 1.000 population in 2022 to 24.25 per 1.000 population in 2024. Conclusion: Access to healthy latrines is closely related to the incidence of diarrhea. A decrease in healthy latrine coverage has the potential to increase the risk of diarrhea in Batuatas. Efforts in education, community empowerment, and strengthening the Community-Based Total Sanitation program need to be continuously improved, especially in coastal areas with limited sanitation facilities. The source of biogas comes from from dirt animals, waste agriculture and waste from industry food like know, have potential big For support transition to clean and sustainable energy.​ Objectives This aim For evaluate opportunities, obstacles, and impacts biogas technology against health public with use approach review library systematic. Method: Method applied is Systematic Literature Review (SLR) on various article published scientific papers between 2021 to 2025, using reference from Google Scholar and ResearchGate. Results: Analysis results show that the use of biogas provides benefits double, namely reduce pollution environment and offers source energy more alternatives​ affordable. The use of biogas can also lower greenhouse gas emissions glass as well as reduce risk diseases caused by pollution​ air from material burn traditional. Abstract

Background: Air pollution is a major environmental and public health concern resulting from industrial activities, transportation, and fossil fuel combustion. Increasing population growth and economic development contribute to higher emissions of pollutants, including particulate matter, carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, and volatile organic compounds. Exposure to these pollutants is associated with respiratory diseases, cardiovascular disorders, and impaired cognitive function, particularly among vulnerable populations such as children, older adults, and individuals with chronic illnesses. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of air filtration technologies in reducing exposure to air pollutants and mitigating associated health risks. Methods: A literature review was conducted using journal articles, research reports, and secondary data from international and national health organizations. Relevant studies on air pollution and filtration technologies were systematically analyzed. Results: The review indicated that both outdoor and indoor air pollution significantly affect public health. Air filtration technologies, including HEPA filters, electrostatic filtration systems, and optimized ventilation designs, reduced airborne pollutant concentrations by up to 90–95% in industrial and healthcare settings. Their effectiveness depends on appropriate design, maintenance, and operational practices. Conclusion: Air filtration technology is an effective strategy for reducing pollution-related health risks. However, its successful implementation requires supportive policies, public awareness, and multisectoral collaboration to achieve sustainable environmental health outcomes.
