Abstract

Background: Pharmaceutical services play a critical role in safeguarding public health by ensuring the rational, safe, and effective use of medicines. In Indonesia, the implementation of pharmacy service standards is regulated through the Decree of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia Number 73 of 2016, which serves as a framework to improve the quality and consistency of pharmaceutical services in community pharmacies. Objectives: This study aimed to assess the extent of compliance with pharmaceutical service standards in community pharmacies in Baubau City. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional survey with a quantitative approach was conducted in 19 community pharmacies in Baubau City. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire derived from the pharmaceutical service standards stipulated in Minister of Health Decree No. 73/2016. Descriptive statistics were applied to summarize findings in the form of frequencies and percentages across key assessment domains, including human resources, facilities and infrastructure, and service quality. Results: The evaluation indicated that most pharmacies demonstrated adequate implementation of pharmaceutical service standards. Overall, 74% of pharmacies were categorized as “good,” while 26% were classified as “fair/adequate,” based on aggregated performance across the assessed domains. Conclusion: The majority of community pharmacies in Baubau City have implemented pharmaceutical service standards in accordance with Minister of Health Decree No. 73/2016 at a generally good level. However, a proportion of pharmacies still show only adequate compliance, highlighting the need for continuous supervision, capacity building, and quality improvement initiatives to strengthen pharmaceutical service delivery. Abstract

Background: Citrus maxima, commonly known as pomelo, is a rich source of nutrients, particularly vitamin C, which is essential for human health. This study focuses on determining the vitamin C content in grapefruit using the iodimetric titration method. Objectives: The primary objective of this research is to quantify the vitamin C levels in grapefruit (Citrus maxima) using the iodimetric titration technique. Methods: The study involves both qualitative and quantitative testing of grapefruit filtrates. The qualitative test includes adding 0.1 N iodine solution to the filtrate in a test tube and noting the number of drops required for the color to change to clear, indicating the presence of vitamin C. For the quantitative analysis, a 1% starch indicator, 0.1 N iodine standard solution, and sodium thiosulfate standard solution were prepared. The 0.01 N iodine solution was standardized using sodium thiosulfate, and the vitamin C content in the grapefruit was determined. Results: The vitamin C content in grapefruit (Citrus maxima) was found to be 3.957 mg/g. Conclusion:This study successfully quantified the vitamin C content in grapefruit using the iodimetric titration method, providing valuable information on its nutritional value. Abstract

Background: Medicinal plants have long been utilized as natural sources of bioactive compounds for healthcare products. Guava leaves (Psidium guajava L.), which are widely found in tropical regions, contain various phytochemical constituents, including psiditanins, eugenol, resins, essential oils, fatty oils, mineral salts, and flavonoids. Flavonoids, particularly quercetin, possess antioxidant and antibacterial properties that may help inhibit microbial growth and reduce oxidative stress, making guava leaves a potential ingredient for liquid hand soap formulations. Objective: This study aimed to formulate liquid hand soap preparations containing guava leaf extract (Psidium guajava L.) and evaluate their physical characteristics and quality. Methods: An experimental study was conducted using guava leaf extract at concentrations of 1%, 2%, and 3% in liquid hand soap formulations. The prepared formulations were evaluated through organoleptic testing, homogeneity testing, pH measurement, and foam stability testing to assess their physical quality and stability. Results: The organoleptic evaluation showed that all formulations produced a liquid preparation with a brownish-green color and a characteristic guava leaf odor. Homogeneity testing indicated that all formulations were homogeneous and free from visible granules. The pH test revealed an average pH value of 8 for all formulations, which falls within the acceptable range for liquid soap preparations. Foam stability testing demonstrated that Formula I exhibited the highest foam stability (95.45%), followed by Formula II (88.57%) and Formula III (69.56%). Overall, all formulations met the required standards for foam stability. Conclusion: Guava leaf extract (Psidium guajava L.) can be successfully formulated into liquid hand soap preparations with acceptable physical characteristics, homogeneity, pH, and foam stability. Among the tested formulations, Formula I showed the best foam stability performance.
