Abstract

The main objective of this study is to maximize students' academic achievement in Islamic Religious Education, particularly in Islamic History, by utilizing Augmented Reality technology. The approach used is Classroom Action Research based on the Kemmis and McTaggart model, which is carried out through two cycles including the stages of planning, action implementation, observation, and evaluation. The research participants consisted of junior high school students. Data collection was carried out through learning achievement tests, observations of student and teacher activities, and questionnaires to measure student responses. Data analysis used quantitative descriptive methods. The results of the study showed that the implementation of Augmented Reality succeeded in significantly improving student learning achievement. The average student score increased from 60.94 in the initial pretest to 93.59 in the first cycle, then increased again to 96.41 in the second cycle. The learning success rate also skyrocketed from 24.24% in the initial condition to 93.94% in the first cycle and a perfect 100% in the second cycle. The N-Gain value reached 0.90, which is categorized as a high increase. In addition, student learning engagement and teachers' ability to organize the teaching process also increased. Student response to Augmented Reality has been very supportive, demonstrating that this technology is an innovative and effective teaching tool.
