Abstract

Kata Kunci: Kelapa Sawit; Petani Mandiri; PendapatanAbstractOil palm plantations are excellent in the agricultural sector in various regions in Indonesia. In recent years, the area of oil palm plantations in Indonesia has increased rapidly, reaching 16.38 million hectares, with Riau as the largest province, controlling 20.68% of the total area of oil palm plantations throughout Indonesia. In Kuantan Singingi Regency, Sumber Jaya Village has become one of the leading subsectors by utilizing most of the agricultural land as oil palm plantations. Previous research has shown that the existence of oil palm plantations has a positive impact on the community's economy, increasing income, creating jobs, and increasing accessibility. However, the existence of oil palm plantations also poses a number of challenges, such as licensing issues, high maintenance costs, and significant environmental and social impacts. Although it provides promising income, responsible management of the farm to minimize its environmental and social impact is indispensable. This study aims to explore the impact of oil palm plantations on the income of independent farmers in Sumber Jaya Village, Singingi Hilir District. Qualitative research methods were used by interviewing independent smallholders to understand the changes that occurred, the challenges faced, and their views regarding oil palm plantation management. The results showed that oil palm plantations provide a steady income for independent smallholders despite challenges such as high maintenance costs and changes in agricultural practices. This research provides an overview of the complexity of oil palm plantation farming practices and the challenges faced by independent smallholders. In conclusion, while providing promising incomes, oil palm plantation farming requires more responsible management to minimize its environmental and social impacts. Keywords: Independent Farmer; Income; Oil Palm

Abstract

This qualitative phenomenological study aims to analyze the construction of the meaning of the teaching profession and its implications for the career interests of UNESA Social Studies Education students after undergoing the School Field Introduction (PLP). Data were collected through in-depth interviews and analyzed using the framework of social construction theory and career interest theory. The results of the study indicate that PLP functions as a place for students to discover the reality of the teaching profession, thereby enabling them to change the meaning of the profession from an ideal to a realistic one. This construction of meaning is influenced by three field realities: pedagogical reality, social environmental reality, and cultural reality. These changes in meaning have implications for the dynamics of career interest. Analysis of the implication stage using John Holland's career interest theory shows a decline in career interest in becoming a teacher due to the low level ofself-efficacy,There is a shift in career interests influenced by the failure to adapt and align the school environment with the individual character of the student, as well as the strengthening of realistic interests. It can be concluded that the real experience of PLP can definitively shape a construction of meaning and map the direction of students' career interests.
