Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the mabit program as a tahfidz murajaah camp in enchancing students religious self-regulation at SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Surakarta. The two-day mabit camp is designed to optimize student’s Qur’an memorization performance and spiritual readiness prior to the Tahfidz examination. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach, with data collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation involving tahfidz supervisors, program participants, and activity coordinators. The results indicate that the mabit program effectively enhances religious self-regulation, as reflected in improvements in spiritual motivation, discipline in worship, time management during murajaah, self-control toward distractions, and mental calmness when facing examinations. Supporting factors include an intensive mentoring system, a structured spiritual environment, and reflective practices (muhasabah), while inhibiting factors involve students’ differences in adaptability, fear of failure, and physical fatigue during the camp. This study concludes that the MABIT program not only contributes to improved Tahfidz memorization outcomes but also plays an important role in shaping students’ religious self-regulation as a crucial component within the field of Islamic psychology.

Abstract

Objective and transparent grading remains a critical challenge within educational evaluation system, particularly in contexts where inconsistency, subjectivitiy, and unclear assessment standards affect students' motivation and academic fairness. This study explores the urgency of objective score processing in education by examining teachers’ understanding and practices related to scale selection, score distribution, and standardized assessment criteria. Using a qualitative research design, data were collected through in depth interviews, observations, and documentation analysis in several senior high schools. Thematic analysis was employed to identify patterns in how educators interpret and implement objective grading principles. Findings indicate that while teachers recognize the importance of objective evaluation, variations in understanding of measurement scale (nominal, ordinal, interval, ratio), limited use of score distribution analysis, and inconsistent application of assessment standards contribute to discrepancies in grading outcomes. These inconsistencies often impact students’ perceptions of fairness and may influence learning motivation. Furthermore, the study highlights structural challenges such as lack of professional training, minimal feedback mechanisms, and limited technological integration in score processing. This research underscores the need for systematic professional development and standardized assessment frameworks to promote fairness, validity, and accountability in educational evaluation. The study also suggests integrating statistical tools and digital assessment platforms as strategies to enhance objectivity and transparency

Abstract

Inclusive education aims to provide equitable learning opportunities for all students regardless of their abilities. Despite increasing policy support in Indonesia, limited evidence exists regarding the implementation of inclusive education in Islamic schools. This study evaluated the Muhjitos Inclusion Program at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Kartasura as a model of inclusive education integrating academic excellence with humanistic and religious values.A qualitative case study was conducted using purposive sampling. Participants included the school principal, the inclusion program coordinator, Special Assistant Teachers (Guru Pendamping Khusus/GPK), subject teachers, and students with special needs. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis. The data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, while source and method triangulation and member checking were employed to ensure trustworthiness.Four major themes emerged: (1) adaptive implementation of inclusive learning through full inclusion and pull-out instruction; (2) the pivotal role of GPK in differentiated instruction and emotional support; (3) a collaborative ecosystem involving teachers, parents, and psychologists; and (4) students' holistic development encompassing academic, social, emotional, and character growth. The findings indicate that the program has been effectively implemented for three years, primarily serving students with mild disabilities through individualized support and collaborative educational practices. The study proposes an Inclusive Excellence Model comprising adaptive instructional flexibility, collaborative ecosystem synergy, and the integration of humanistic-spiritual values. The findings suggest that inclusive education and academic excellence can be achieved simultaneously through adaptive pedagogy, sustained stakeholder collaboration, and institutional commitment to educational equity, offering practical implications for the development of inclusive education in Islamic schools.

Abstract

Islamic Religious Education (IRE) continues to face various challenges in its implementation, particularly the tendency of learning to focus primarily on knowledge transfer and the achievement of cognitive outcomes. This condition results in learning processes that are less capable of addressing the affective, spiritual, and character-building dimensions of students in a comprehensive manner. Consequently, although students may possess adequate religious knowledge, they are not always able to internalize Islamic values in their daily lives. Therefore, there is a need to reconstruct IRE learning into a more humanistic, transformative, and student-centred approach that promotes the holistic development of learners' potential. This study aims to analyse Abraham Maslow’s humanistic theory, examine its relevance to Islamic Religious Education, and formulate a reconstruction of IRE learning based on Maslow’s humanistic theory. This research employs a library research method by reviewing various scholarly works related to humanistic theory, Islamic education, and Islamic Religious Education learning. The findings indicate that Abraham Maslow’s hierarchy of needs is highly relevant to the objectives of Islamic Religious Education in fostering the comprehensive development of learners toward becoming insan kamil (the complete human being). The fulfilment of physiological needs, safety needs, love and belongingness, esteem needs, and self-actualization can serve as a foundation for creating more effective and meaningful IRE learning. The reconstruction of IRE learning based on Maslow’s theory includes the formulation of holistic learning objectives, the implementation of dialogical, reflective, and student-centred learning approaches, the strengthening of teachers’ roles as facilitators and mentors, and the development of assessment systems that emphasize not only cognitive achievement but also affective and spiritual development. Thus, Islamic Religious Education can be transformed from a mere process of knowledge transmission into a process of character formation and the holistic development of human beings.
