Abstract

The advancement of technology and the demands of Industry 4.0 have heightened the need for STEM-based education; however, science teachers in Indonesia continue to face challenges in mastering technologies such as robotics. This community service activity aimed to enhance science teachers' competency in integrating Arduino coding for Rover navigation within a space exploration learning theme. The workshop was conducted by the Science Education Study Program of FPMIPA UPI in collaboration with the Korean Astronomical Society (KAS), involving 30 participants from the Greater Bandung area. Activities included presentations on Rover concepts and hands-on coding sessions using the Arduino IDE. Evaluation results from 28 respondents showed an average score above 4 on a Likert scale, indicating positive responses toward the program's benefits. Participants who were initially skeptical about technology demonstrated increased enthusiasm and motivation. Hands-on workshops of this nature are recommended for comunity development to build a sustainable STEM learning ecosystem in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to address waste management challenges through counseling and training programs on household waste processing techniques. Methods include observation, training, and direct practice by the local community, particularly PKK and Karang Taruna groups. Evaluation results show improved participants' knowledge, with an average post-test score of 82.5 compared to 55 in the pre-test. However, program success is not measured solely by increased test scores, but rather by the emergence of collective initiatives, behavioral changes in waste sorting, and tangible actions taken by the community to independently process household waste. Its implementation has been proven to reduce inappropriate waste disposal practices, contribute to sustainable development and strengthen the social capital of local communities.
