Abstract

Abstract Human movement in Bandung is unavoidable, with traffic congestion and travel distance making walking a popular alternative. Ease of reaching a location is linked to walking distance and time, and route characteristics affect walking effort and accessibility. Jalan Braga is a high pedestrian area in Bandung. This study assesses walkability to Jalan Braga using Walking permeability, Walking Effort, and Walkability Index methods. Results show the highest walkability permeability values for distance and time are 1.81 on Route 4: Naripan Gas Station and 2.29 on Route 6: Bandung City Square. The highest walking effort value is 4362.50 on Route 6: Bandung City Square. The best and worst walkability index values are for Route 6: Bandung City Square and Route 3: Lautze 2 Mosque, respectively.

Abstract

Human mobility in Bandung City cannot be avoided. Congestion and travel distance make walking a popular choice. Accessibility is measured by walking distance (400–800 m) and walking time (10–15 minutes). Route characteristics affect walking effort, determining accessibility quality. Ganesha Campus ITB, especially Dayang Sumbi Gate, has high pedestrian traffic. This study assesses walkability using Permeability Framework, Walking effort approach, and Walkability Index. Results shows the route to McDonald's Dago via Jl. Sumur Bandung has the highest Walking Effort and Permeability: 3155 m (normal)–2300.26 m (opposite) and 5.836 (normal)–4.939 (opposite). The best road by walkability index is Jl. Ir. H. Djuanda While the Worsts one is Jl. ITB IX.

Abstract

The increasing intensity of commercial and office activities in Palembang City has led to a growing demand for parking spaces, particularly along road segments with mixed land-use functions. Jalan Merdeka was selected as the study location because it experiences high traffic volumes and serves as the administrative center of Palembang City, characterized by a concentration of offices, commercial areas, and traditional markets. This study aims to analyze parking characteristics, including parking volume, parking accumulation, and parking duration, along Jalan Merdeka from the Pasar 26 Ilir segment to the Palembang City Bappenda Office. Data were collected through direct parking surveys conducted on both weekdays and weekends. The survey data were analyzed to identify parking space utilization patterns and to evaluate the conformity between parking demand and existing parking capacity. The results indicate that during weekends, market and culinary areas exhibit higher parking volumes and accumulations, while on weekdays, office areas are dominated by longer parking durations. In general, parking demand on several road segments exceeds the available parking capacity, resulting in intensive use of parking spaces along the study corridor. These findings are expected to serve as a basis for planning and managing parking facilities in urban areas.

Abstract

Roads, as an essential part of the national transportation system, play a very vital role, especially in supporting economic, social, cultural, and environmental aspects. In road maintenance planning, it is necessary to have a well-organized and systematic road handling program. One of the steps in planning new roads is to determine the pavement thickness. The aim of this research is to determine the pavement thickness of roads in Muara Ikan Village - Talang Ali, PALI Regency, using the 2017 Manual for Pavement Design (MDP) method. By utilizing various methods and approaches related to traffic volume, vehicle types, subgrade soil types, and planning duration, pavement thickness calculations can be performed. The research method includes surveys of the geometric conditions of the road, daily traffic volume, and surrounding topography. The data obtained are further analyzed using the pavement design guidelines from 2017. The results indicate that the rigid pavement design based on the 2017 MDP method uses concrete pavement with a compressive strength of Fs’ 45 MPa and a thickness of 27.5 cm, an aggregate base layer of Class A with a thickness of 15 cm, and soil improvement using selective backfill with a thickness of 30 cm.

Abstract

The Inspektur Marzuki Four-Legged Intersection in Palembang City is an unsignalized intersection that frequently experiences congestion, especially during peak hours. This study aims to analyze the performance of the intersection using the Indonesian Road Capacity Guidelines (PKJI) 2023 and micro simulation through the PTV VISSIM 8.0.2. The data used consist of primary data, including road geometry, traffic volume, vehicle speed, side friction, and delay, as well as secondary data, including maps and site drawings of the intersection and information on the surrounding conditions such as the presence of public facilities and commercial activities. The parameters analyzed include degree of saturation (DS), average delay (T), queue probability (Pa), queue length, and level of service (LOS). Based on the PKJI 2023 method, the highest DS was found to be 0.68 SMP/hour, with an average delay of 11.70 seconds/vehicle and queue probability ranging between 19%–39%. Simulation results using PTV VISSIM showed an average delay of 6.43 seconds/vehicle, an average maximum queue length of 23.86 meters, and an overall LOS in category A.
