Abstract

The science of monotheism is the main foundation in Islamic teachings which discuss the oneness of Allah SWT and his relationship with humans and the universe. In the context of education, the science of monotheism has a strategic role as a basis for values, morals and learning goals. This article aims to examine the relationship between monotheism and education by referring to several classical and contemporary books and literature. The method used is a literature study with a descriptive-analytical approach. The results of the research show that the integration of monotheistic knowledge in education is able to form the  character of students who are faithful, have noble character, and have a balance between intellectual, spiritual and social intelligence. The integration of the science of tawhid into the educational curriculum Is not merely an addition of cognitive content, but rather a transformation of the educational paradigm centered on lillāh (for the sake of Allah). Tawhid functions as a moral regulator (ethics) and a source of meaning for every discipline of knowledge. The implementation of tawhid in education has been proven to shape the holistic character of learners, namely individuals who possess strong faith and noble moral character

Abstract

Tauhid education plays a crucial role in Islamic education, as it serves as the primary foundation for shaping students' character and personality. Tauhid is not merely understood as a theological aspect, but also as a value that guides individuals' thought patterns, attitudes, and behaviors in daily life. In the current era of massive globalization, Tauhid education and Islamic character education are interconnected. Given that globalization erodes individual moral and spiritual values, this study aims to analyze the role and contribution of Tauhid education in strengthening Islamic character education, as well as how the process of internalizing Tauhid values can shape a young generation with noble character. The research method used is a literature review with qualitative descriptive analysis techniques. Using various sources from books, national journals, and international journals. The results of the study indicate that Tauhid education serves as a moral and spiritual foundation, capable of fostering awareness of the kappa of Allah SWT, an attitude of responsibility, honesty, discipline, sincerity, and social concern. Thus, Tauhid education needs to be implemented comprehensively in all aspects of education to create a generation that is not only intellectually intelligent but also spiritually intelligent

Abstract

This theory discusses the relevance and application of the anthropological approach in Islamic studies. This approach offers a unique way to understand Islam not only as a set of theological doctrines or sacred texts but also as a living and dynamic cultural practice experienced by Muslims in their daily lives. Through the use of ethnographic methods and participant observation, anthropology enables researchers to understand how Muslims in different parts of the world interpret, practice, and make meaning of their religion in diverse social, cultural, and political contexts. This article also discusses how the anthropological approach can help overcome excessive generalizations and stereotypes about Islam and promote a deeper understanding of the variations and diversity in Muslim religious practices. Additionally, this article examines the integration of the anthropological approach with other disciplines, such as sociology, history, and legal studies, to provide a more comprehensive understanding of Islam. Finally, this article highlights the contemporary relevance of the anthropological approach in addressing the challenges faced by Muslims, such as extremism, radicalism, and Islamophobia. Abstract

Theological issues in Islam constitute a fundamental discourse that emerged in the early period following the passing of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), triggered by political tensions that later transformed into theological debates. This article aims to provide an in-depth analysis of three major theological schools in classical Islamic history, namely the Khawarij, Murji’ah, and Mu‘tazilah, as well as the implications of their thought for the concepts of faith (īmān), disbelief (kufr), and human actions. The main focus of this study is to explore the historical background of the emergence of each school,  their central doctrines, and the methods of reasoning they employed in interpreting religious texts. The research method used is qualitative, employing a library research approach. This analysis concludes that although these three schools have distant historical roots, their patterns of thought continue to appear in fragmented forms within the dynamics of modern Islamic thought. Therefore, a comprehensive understanding of classical theological history is crucial to preventing religious extremism

Abstract

Rational evidence (dalil aqli) and textual evidence (dalil naqli) are two important pillars in the structure of Islamic thought, serving as the foundation for understanding religious teachings, whether in terms of creed, law, or ethics. Textual evidence comes from God’s revelation recorded in the Qur’an and the Hadith of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), whereas rational evidence comes from the human intellect granted by God as a means to think, reflect, and draw conclusions. Both play interrelated roles and cannot be separated in the process of establishing legal rulings and strengthening religious beliefs. This aims to examine the meaning, position, and functions of aqli arguments and naqli arguments, as well as to explain the relationship between the two from the perspective of Islamic thought. The method used is library research with a descriptive-analytical approach to relevant primary and secondary sources, both from classical and contemporary literature. Textual evidence (dalil naqli) occupies the primary position as the source of absolute truth, while rational evidence (dalil aqli) functions as a supporting instrument in understanding, interpreting, and explaining the content of textual evidence in a rational and contextual manner. When used proportionally, rational evidence will not contradict textual evidence, but rather strengthen the understanding of Islamic teachings. Therefore, the integration of rational and textual evidence becomes very important in developing a balanced, rational Islamic thought that remains based on revelation

Abstract

The historical approach in Islamic studies is a research method that emphasizes understanding religious texts, practices, and traditions within the historical context in which they emerged. This approach enables researchers to interpret texts contextually, trace the origins of thought and practices, and assess their applicability in modern society. This article discusses the principles of the historical approach, its application in Islamic studies, the challenges faced, and its benefits for contemporary research. Based on the latest literature analysis (2014–2024), the historical approach enriches the understanding of Islamic study methodology, supports more accurate interpretations, and remains relevant when combined with interdisciplinary methods such as sociology, anthropology, and digital humanities. These findings confirm that Islamic studies that consider historical context result in deeper and more applicable scholarship

Abstract

The normative-theological approach is one of the methods frequently used in Islamic studies, particularly in understanding Islamic teachings based on primary sources, namely the Qur’an and Hadith. This approach views Islam as a system of values and norms that are absolute and serve as a guide in religious life. In the context of contemporary Islamic studies, which are increasingly influenced by empirical, historical, and social approaches, the existence of the normative-theological approach is often positioned marginally because it is considered less objective and unscientific. In the context of contemporary Islamic studies, which are increasingly influenced by empirical, historical, and social approaches, the existence of the normative-theological approach is often positioned marginally because it is considered less objective and unscientific. The purpose of writing this article is to analyze the role of the theological normative approach as a foundation of academic ethics in the methodology of contemporary Islamic Studies. This approach provides a normative basis for maintaining academic integrity so that Islamic Studies do not diverge from the transcendental values that characterize it. Thus, the theological normative approach remains relevant and necessary as a foundation of academic ethics that complements other scientific approaches in the methodology of contemporary Islamic Studies

Abstract

Islamic studies is a field of scholarship that is deeply rooted in the intellectual history of Islam and has developed in tandem with the dynamics of Muslim civilisation. Over time, Islamic studies has come to be understood not only as a normative study of religious teachings, but also as an academic discipline that integrates various multidisciplinary approaches. This article aims to trace the historical journey of Islamic studies from the early period of Islam to the modern era, while identifying the main factors behind its emergence as a scientific discipline. This study uses a literature review method with a historical-analytical approach to classical and contemporary sources. The results of the study show that the development of Islamic studies was influenced by internal factors, such as revelation, Islamic scientific tradition, and the needs of the people, as well as external factors in the form of interactions between civilisations, Western orientalism, and the challenges of modernity. Therefore, modern Islamic studies can be understood as a synthesis between classical intellectual heritage and current academic demands

Abstract

Islamic Religious Education (PAI) faces significant challenges related to educational quality and teacher professionalism in the 21st century. This background underscores the importance of strengthening pedagogical foundations oriented towards Islamic prophetic values. The objective of this study is to examine the pedagogical foundations of PAI in schools. The method used is a qualitative literature study. The results indicate that the pedagogical foundations of PAI are derived from divine values (worship, ihsan, future orientation, mercy, trustworthiness, da'wah, tabsyir) and encompass four philosophical views of humans: as beings who can be educated and educate others, education as a lifelong process, education as a basic human need, and humans as religious beings. Its implementation applies collaborative approaches, Vygotsky's social constructivism, and teacher exemplarity (uswah hasanah) to holistically shape character. In the digital era, integrating technology as a value-laden pedagogical medium becomes a necessity. The conclusion emphasizes that pedagogical approaches based on Qur'anic values, Prophetic Sunnah, and modern educational theory serve as a strategic foundation for shaping a generation of Muslims who are knowledgeable, virtuous, critical, and capable of wisely adapting to contemporary challenges
