Abstract

Kata Kunci: konstruksi nilai, budi pekerti, cerpen, pendidikan karakter, remajaABSTRACTThe representation of moral values in children’s literature faces a major challenge: the tendency to present values normatively without explaining their construction within the narrative structure. Rindi Yani’s short story Terkepung Gonggongan presents a conflict that allows for a narrative exploration of the formation of moral meaning. This study aims to analyze the construction of moral values in this short story and its relevance to character education for adolescents. The study employs a structural-narrative analysis method with a qualitative approach. The results indicate that the values of responsibility and courage are constructed through causal relationships between the conflict plot, characterization, and the character-testing situations experienced by the protagonist, and are reinforced through social interactions. These values are built implicitly through the progression of events and changes in the characters’ attitudes, thereby representing a process of character transformation within the narrative structure. Keywords: value construction, morals, short stories, character education, teenagers
