Peningkatan kebutuhan rumah sakit khusus bedah menuntut perancangan yang tidak hanya fungsional, tetapi juga berkelanjutan. Bangunan rumah sakit memiliki konsumsi energi dan air tinggi serta menghasilkan limbah medis, sementara penelitian sebelumnya masih terbatas dalam mengintegrasikan arsitektur ramah lingkungan dengan pendekatan tropis, khususnya pada konteks Kota Medan. Penelitian ini bertujuan merancang rumah sakit khusus bedah berbasis arsitektur ramah lingkungan yang responsif terhadap iklim tropis. Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif melalui studi literatur, preseden, dan analisis tapak. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa strategi desain pasif seperti orientasi, ventilasi alami, pencahayaan alami, dan shading mampu meningkatkan efisiensi energi dan kenyamanan termal, didukung oleh pengelolaan air dan material ramah lingkungan. Kesimpulan menunjukkan bahwa integrasi arsitektur ramah lingkungan dan desain tropis menghasilkan desain yang efisien, adaptif, dan berkelanjutan, serta berpotensi menjadi referensi pengembangan fasilitas kesehatan di masa mendatang. The increasing demand for specialized surgical hospitals requires designs that are not only functional but also sustainable. Hospital buildings are characterized by high energy and water consumption as well as the generation of medical waste, while previous studies remain limited in integrating green architecture with tropical design approaches, particularly in the context of Medan. This study aims to design a surgical specialty hospital based on environmentally friendly architectural principles that respond to tropical climatic conditions. The method employed is a qualitative descriptive approach through literature review, precedent studies, and site analysis. The results indicate that passive design strategies, including building orientation, natural ventilation, daylighting, and shading, can enhance energy efficiency and thermal comfort, supported by water management systems and the use of environmentally friendly materials. The study concludes that the integration of green architecture and tropical design produces a design that is efficient, adaptive, and sustainable, and has the potential to serve as a reference for future healthcare facility development.
