Abstract

Pain is an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience resulting from actual or potential tissue damage. Education about pain management is essential for the public to use pain medication wisely and safely. The purpose of this outreach program was to determine differences in knowledge among Gading Wetan residents before and after SIPENA (Your Pain Care Pharmacy) outreach. The research employed a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design, involving 34 respondents, consisting of productive-age residents in RT 03, Padukuhan Gading Wetan. The majority of respondents were aged 18–59 (88%), had secondary education (82%), were housewives (88%), earned below the minimum wage (UMK) (79%), and were married (94%). The Wilcoxon test results showed a significant difference in knowledge levels before and after the outreach (p = 0.001025 < 0.05), indicating that SIPENA outreach was effective in improving community knowledge about pain management. Therefore, it can be concluded that SIPENA outreach is effective in improving community knowledge about pain. It is hoped that there will be cooperation between residents and health workers, especially pharmacists, in the wise and safe use of pain medication
