Abstrak: Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan kemampuan representasi matematis siswa melalui penerapan model pembelajaran kooperastif tipe TAI dengan pendekatan saintifik. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain eksperimen preetest-postest control group design. Populasi penelitian penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa Kelas VIII SMP Negeri 20 Kendari, sampel penelitian diambil dua kelas dengan teknik Purposive sampling dan penentuan kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol dipilih secara random. Siswa kelas eksperimen mendapat model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TAI dengan pendekatan saintifik dan kelas kontrol mendapat model pembelajaran PBL dengan pendekatan saintifik. Instrumen yang yang digunakan adalah pretest dan posttest untuk kemampuan representasi matematis. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan statistik deskriptif dan inferensial dengan uji hipotesis menggunakan Uji t , dan uji t berpasangan pada . Berdasarkan hasil analisis data dapat disimpulkan bahwa secara keseluruhan kemampuan representasi matematis siswa yang mendapat model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TAI dengan pendekatan saintifik memperoleh peningkatan yang signifikan lebih tinggi dari pada siswa yang mendapat model pembelajaran PBL dengan pendekatan saintifik.Kata kunci: Kemampuan representasi Matematis, model pembelajaran Kooperaif tipe TAI, Model Pembelajaran PBL dan Pendekatan Saintifik. Abstract: The purpose of this study was to increase students’ ability in mathematic representation by applying the Team Assisted Individualization (TAI) type of cooperative learning model integrated into scientific approach. The study used a pretest-posttest control group design. Population of the study included all students of class VIII in SMP Negeri 20 of Kendari, and samples were two classes determined using the purposive sampling technique. One experimental class and one control class were assigned randomly. Students in the experimental class received the Team Assisted Individualization (TAI) type of cooperative learning model with scientific approach, whereas their cohorts in the control class were taught using the PBL model with scientific approach. Instruments used were pretest and posttest to measure the students’ mathematic representation ability. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics, whereas hypotheses testing were performed using t-test, and paired t-test at α = 0.05. Based on the result of data analysis, it could be concluded overall the mathematic representation ability demonstrated by the students who received the TAI type of cooperative learning model with scientific approach increase significantly higher than that gained shown by their cohorts who were taught using the PBL model with scientific approach. Keywords: mathematic representation ability, TAI type of cooperative learning model, PBL model, scientific approach
