Mustard is one of the types of vegetables favored by the community, but mustard has not met the needs and demands of the community because the planting area is getting narrower and the productivity of mustard plants is still relatively low. The research aims to study the effect of season I fertilizer application on season II fertilization whether there is an element of fertilizer that can be utilized on vertisol soil on the growth and yield of mustard plants. This research was carried out in Hamlet Kraguman, Tegalweru Village, Dau District, Malang Regency, East Java Province. The method used in this study consisted of 13 treatments using a randomized block design (RBD), with 3 replications. The treatments used were biochar residues and nitrogen fertilizer that had been applied in the first planting season. Observation parameters are: plant height (cm), number of leaves (strands), leaf area (cm) and plant wet weight (cm). The data obtained were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and if there were significant differences between treatments, it could be continued with the Least Significant Difference test (LSD) level of 5%. The results showed that the fertilizer residue of 100 kg urea / ha and biochar ditugal (30 tons / ha) was better than the control (0 kg urea / ha and 0 biochar) on the growth of the number of leaves and leaf area and the results of the wet weight of the plant at harvest. Sawi merupakan salah satu jenis sayuran yang digemari oleh masyarakat, namun sawi belum mencukupi kebutuhan dan permintaan masyarakat karena areal pertanaman semakin sempit dan produktivitas tanaman sawi masih relatif rendah.Penelitian bertujuan untuk mempelajari pengaruh pemberian pupuk musim I terhadap pemupukan musim II apakah ada unsur pupuk yang dapat dimanfaatkan pada tanah vertisol terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman sawi.Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Dukuh Kraguman, Desa Tegalweru, Kecamatan Dau, Kabupaten Malang, Provinsi Jawa Timur.Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari 13 perlakuan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK), dengan 3 ulangan.Perlakuan yang digunakan adalah residu biochar dan pupuk nitrogen yang sudah diaplikasikan dimusim tanam pertama. Parameter pengamatan yaitu : tinggi tanaman (cm), jumlah daun (helai), luas daun (cm) dan berat basah tanaman (cm).Data yang diperoleh, dianalisis dengan menggunakan analisis sidik ragam (ANOVA) dan jika ada perbedaan yang signifikan antar perlakuan, maka dapat dilanjutkan dengan uji Beda Nyata Terkecil (BNT) taraf 5%.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa residu pupuk 100 kg urea/ha dan biochar ditugal (30 ton/ha) lebih baik dibanding kontrol (0 kg urea/ha dan 0 biochar) terhadap pertumbuhan jumlah daun dan luas daun dan hasil bobot basah tanaman saat panen.
