Abstract

Ranu Grati is a lake in Pasuruan Regency, East Java. It has extraordinary beautiful nature. It has a story that is believed by society as a story that actually happened. This study is aimed to describe the structure of folktale “Asal Mula Ranu Grati” with Structuralism Lévi-Strauss approach. This study reveals how is story structure of “Asal Mula Ranu Grati”? The result of study shows there is a stucture configuration get repetition that is called tranformation in the series of story ceriteme and there is deep structure in the series that can be interpreted as cross cultural between Java ethnic and Madura ethnic in Pasuruan Regency.
