This quasi experimental research aimed to find out the influence of discovery learning towards student's mathematical problem solving skill. The population of this research was all grade eight students of Junior High School state of 5 Bandar Lampung in academic year of 2017/2018 which were distributed into eleven classes. The samples of this research were students of VIII-A and VIII-B class which were chosen by purposive sampling technique.  The design of this research was pretest-posttest control group design. The research data were obtained by the essays test of  mathematical problem solving skill. Analysis data of the research using non parametric test that is Mann-Whitney U test. Based on the research results and discussion, it was concluded that discovery learning affects the student's mathematical problem solving skill.Penelitian eksperimen semu ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh discovery learning terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 5 Bandar Lampung tahun pelajaran 2017/2018 yang terdistribusi dalam sebelas kelas. Sampel dari penelitian adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII-A dan VIII-B yang dipilih melalui teknik purposive sampling. Desain penelitian ini adalah pretest-posttest control group design. Data penelitian diperoleh dari tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis berbentuk essay. Analisis data penelitian ini menggunakan uji non parametrik yaitu uji Mann-Whitney U. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dan pembahasan diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa discovery learning berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa. Kata kunci: discovery learning, pemecahan masalah matematis
