Abstract

AbstractThis research was conducted to get an idea of science process skills improvement among students who learn using model levels of inquiry with students who learn to use conventional learning model-based verification lab. The study was conducted in one of the private SMP-based modern boarding school in Tangerang Regency, using methods quasy experimental research design matching only pretest-posttest design. Data was collected using observation sheet to enforceability of learning model, the initial test and final test for the science process skills related to the concept of refraction of light and sense organ of vision and attitude scale to determine the students' attitudes toward learning model levels of inquiry. The results shows that students who learn to use the levels of inquiry learning model has an average N-gain of 0.57. The score higher than students who learn to use conventional learning model-based verification lab which has an average N-gain 0.45. The result showed that the levels of inquiry learning model can significantly improve the science process skills of students compared to conventional learning modelbased verification lab. Similarly, students' attitudes toward learning model levels of inquiry are generally positive. AbstrakPenelitian ini dilakukan untukmendapatkan gambaran peningkatan keterampilan proses sains antara siswa yang belajar menggunakan model pembelajaran levels of inquiry dengan siswa yang belajar menggunakan model pembelajaran konvensional berbasis praktikum verifikasi. Penelitian dilakukan di salah satu SMP Swasta berbasis pondok pesantren modern di Kabupaten Tangerang, menggunakan metode quasy experiment dengan desain penelitian matching only pretest-posttest design. Pengumpulan data dilakukan menggunakan lembar observasi untuk keterlaksanaan model pembelajaran, tes awal dan tes akhir untuk keterampilan proses sains terkait konsep pembiasan cahaya dan alat indera penglihatan, dan skala sikap untuk mengetahui sikap siswa terhadap model pembelajaran levels of inquiry. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa yag belajar menggunakan model pembelajaran levels of inquiry memiliki rata-rata N-gain 0,57. Skor tersebut lebih tinggi dibandingkan siswa yang belajar menggunakan model pembelajaran konvensional berbasis praktikum verifikasi yang memiliki rata-rata N-gain 0,45. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa model pembelajaran levels of inquiry secara signifikan dapat lebih meningkatkan keterampilan proses sains siswa dibandingkan model pembelajaran konvensional berbasis praktikum verifikasi.
