Abstract

This research was aimed to describe the effectiveness of problem solving learning model in rate of reaction subject to increase students flexibility thinking ability. The method of the research was quasi experimental with non equivalentpretest-posttest control group design. The population of this research was studentsof class XI SMAN 1 Gedong Tataan on academic semester 2014/2015 whichconsists of XI IPA1, XI IPA2, XI IPA3, XI IPA4, and XI IPA5. Sample was taken by purposive sampling technique. The sample in this research were class X1 IPA2 and XI IPA3. The results showed that the average n-Gain of flexibility thinking skills of control class and experiment class were 0,35 and 0,68 respectively. The result of hypothesis testing (t test) showed that problem solvinglearning model was effective to improve students flexibility thinking ability inrate of reaction subject.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan efektivitas model problem solving pada materi laju reaksi dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir luwes siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuasi eksperimen dengan non equivalentpretest-posttest control group design. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah semuasiswa kelas XI IPA SMA N 1 Gedong Tataan Tahun Pelajaran 2014/2015 yangterdiri dari lima kelas yaitu XI IPA 1, XI IPA 2, XI IPA 3, XI IPA 4, dan XI IPA5. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan teknik purposive sampling dan diperoleh kelas XI IPA 2 dan XI IPA 3 sebagai sampel penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata n-Gain kemampuan berpikir luwes siswa pada kelas kontrol dan eksperimen sebesar 0,35 dan 0,68. Hasil pengujian hipotesis (uji t) menunjukkan bahwa model pembelajaran problem solving pada materi laju reaksi efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir luwes siswa.Kata kunci: kemampuan berpikir luwes,laju reaksi, model problem solving
