Background Relationships Education and Utilization of Instructional Media Perceptions of the Teachers' Competence Physics AbstractThis study aimed to determine the relationship between; (1) educational background, (2) perception of the use of instructional media, and (3) educational backgrounds and perceptions of instructional media utilization and the competence of physics teachers of SMA/MA in Southeast Maluku Regency. This research included the study of quantitative non-experimental approach. The results of the correlation analysis were as follows. (1) The correlation between educational background variable (X1) and the competence of physics teachers of SMA/ MA in Southeast Maluku Regency (Y) was statistically significant where the t test results obtain the t value of 3.5, and at the significance level of 0.002 where the variable X1 is smaller than the significance level of 5%. (2) The correlation between the use of instructional media perception variable (X2) and the competence of physics teachers of SMA/MA in Southeast Maluku Regency (Y) was not statistically significant based on the t test of 1.551 and 0.137 which was significantly greater than the significance level of 5%. (3) The multiple regression correlation between variables X1 and X2 with two Y variables showed significant results based on the results of the test statistic F, which obtained the F value of 17.670 and at significance level of 0.000 which was smaller than the significance level of 5%.Keywords: background education, learning media, and competence.
