Abstract

Abstract:This study aims to describe students' errors in solving the problem of quadratic equations in grade XI SMAN 5 Pontianak. This research type is qualitative research. Method of research used is descriptive method with form of research of case study. The subject of this research is 32 student of grade XI IPA 2 SMAN 5 Pontianak. Data collection techniques used in this study is a written test and direct communication techniques that is by interview. The data collection tool used in this study is a diagnostic test. Based on the results of data analysis, and interviews,it can be concluded: students make a facts mistake, concept mistake, skill mistakes,principles mistake. The factors that cause the students to make mistakes: students do not understand the origin of a principle, students do not capture the concept correctly and students do not capture the meaning of symbols, students understand the origin of a principle and students are not fluent using counting operations, students do not capture the concept correctly and students do not use counting operations, students do not catch the concept correctly and students are not fluent using the operation,students do not capture the concept correctly. Keywords: Error Analysis, SolvingProblems, Quadratic Equation
