<![CDATA[Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk pendeskripsian pesan dan makna yang terkandung pada kumpulan surat R.A. Kartini. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif bentuk kualitatif dengan pendekatan wacana kritis. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah buku kumpulan surat R.A. Kartini “Habis Gelap Terbitlah Terangâ€. Alat pengumpul data utama dalam penelitian ini adalah peneliti sendiri sebagai instrumen kunci . Berdasarkan hasil analisis data, maka dihasilkan simpulan sebagai berikut: 1) Aspek superstruktur meliputi alur, tokoh dan penokohan, latar tempat, waktu, dan suasana . 2) aspek makro meliputi tema yang menceritakan perjuangan R.A. Kartini dalam meraih cita-cita lewat surat yang ia tulis . 3) Aspek mikro yang meliputi aspek semantik, sintaksis, dan retorika. Kata kunci: superstruktur, makro, mikro, surat-surat R.A. Kartini.  Abstract: This study aimed to delineate the message and meaning contained in a collection of letters R. A. Kartini. The research method used is a form of qualitative descriptive method with the approach of critical discourse. Sources of data in this study is a book of collected letters R. A. Kartini "Out of darkness to light". The main data collection tool in this study is the researchers themselves as a key instrument. Based on the analysis of data, it generated the following conclusions: 1) Aspects of the superstructure include plots, characters and characterizations, setting the place, time, and atmosphere. 2) macro aspects include themes that tells the struggle of R. A.  Kartini in achieving goals in a letter that he wrote. 3) micro aspect which includes aspects of semantics, syntax, and rhetoric.  Key words: supersturucture, macro, micro, R.A.
