Abstract

Abstrak : Penelitian ini bertujuan  untuk mengungkapkan  penerapan pendekatan kontekstual dalam upaya mengembangkan kemampuan koneksi matematis ditinjau dari Pengetahuan Awal Matematis (PAM)  siswa kelas XI SMP Negeri 3 Sungai Raya Kab. Kubu Raya Provinsi Kalimantan Barat. Metode Penelitian  yang digunakan adalah eksperimental semu (Quasi eksperimental) dengan rancangan desain faktorial 2 x 3. Sampel penelitian adalah  sebanyak  dua kelas masing – masing 40 orang untuk kelas eksperimen dan 39 orang dari kelas kontrol. Dari hasil penelitian diperoleh kesimpulan : Kemampuan koneksi matematis siswa dengan pendekatan kontekstual lebih baik dari pada   pendekatan   konvensional; Dilihat dari PAM :  kemampuan koneksi matematis siswa  dengan  PAM tinggi melalui  pendekatan kontekstual sama baiknya dengan  pendekatan konvensional; pada siswa yang memiliki PAM sedang  , pendekatan kontektual,  sama baiknya dengan   pendekatan konvensional;   pada  siswa yang memiliki PAM rendah dengan pendekatan kontekstual  lebih baik dari pada pembelajaran dengan pendekatan konvensional. Kata Kunci : Pendekatan  kontekstual,  Kemampuan koneksi matematis. ABSTRACT  :This study is aimed at describing the process of improving students' mathematical connection through contextual approach in term of Basic Knowledge of Mathematical (BKM) of the ninth students at SMP Negeri 3 Sungai Raya, Pontianak regency, West Borneo province. The method used is Quasi Experimental (Eksperiment Semu) which draft  2 x 3 factorial design. The research subject are two classes as the experiment group consist of 40 students for each class and one class as the control group consist of 39 students..The result of this research are; Students' ability at mathematical connection by using contextual approach better than conventional approach;  Students' ability who learned mathematical connection by using contextual approach who has great BKM, it does not better than the conventional learning process ;  Students' ability who learned mathematical connection by using contextual approach who has average BKM, it does not better than the conventional approach;  Students' ability who has low BKM  learned between mathematical connection by using contextual approach it better than conventional approach.
