<![CDATA[ABSTRAKNovel adalah salah satu jenis karya sastra, yang penulisannya tak jarang dipengaruhi oleh keadaan atau masa saat pengarang menulis karyanya. Faktor demikian yang menyebabkan munculnya kesamaan tertentu antara dunia realitas dan dunia fiksi di dalam novel, termasuk pada novel Layar Terkembang karya Sutan Takdir Alisjahbana dan Belenggu karya Armijn Pane. Hasil pembahasan menemukan bahwa adanya potret wabah yang mendokumentasikan kegelisahan pada zaman saat/sebelum ditulisnya novel ini, yaitu terkait wabah penyakit tuberculosis (TBC). Hasil ini menerangkan bahwa adanya upaya pengarang untuk mendokumentasikan sejarah dan pengaruh masa terhadap penulisan karya, yang kemudian menghasilkan cerita berupa tiruan, atau disebut juga sebagai bagian mimesis. Kata kunci: Mimesis, Layar Terkembang, Belenggu, Tuberkulosis, WabahABSTRACTNovel is one type of literary, the writing of which is often influenced by the circumstances or times when the author writes that. The results of the discussion found that there was a portrait of the plague that documented the problem in that era when / before the writing of this novel, namely related to the outbreak of tuberculosis (TBC).
