The potential of algae includes antiviral, antioxidant, antibacterial, neuromodulatory, antifungal, deworming, anti-inflammatory, anticancer, and others. One of the secondary metabolites produced by Phaeophyceae or brown algae is phlorotannin which functions as an antioxidant. There are several methods of extracting it.
