Abstract

Philosophy and religion in the history of the treasures of Islamic thought have been a prolonged polemic. Take, for example, al-Ġazāliy who attacked philosophy with his Tahāfut al-Falāsifah and was responded by Ibn Rushd in Tahāfut al-Tahāfut. Not a few scholars - for example, Ibn al-Ṣalāḥ who forbids philosophy and the path leading to philosophy, including the science of manṭiq. Philosophy in the treasures of Islamic thought has been stagnant, especially among the Ahlu Sunnah wal Jama'ah. While the Mu'tazilah and Shi'ites were never anti-philosophies. However, the object of philosophical study itself continues to grow from the object of the cosmos, God, and then humans, who are now expanding to the object of religion, science, and language, all of which are part of the phenomenon of human behavior. This article aims to discuss major themes in the philosophy of religion, the problem of the epistemology of the philosophy of religion, and its axiology. The result of this research is that the philosophy of religion will not be affected by the freedom of thought and philosophy, even though it is bound by a belief or dogma that religion is a reality. On the other hand, although the object of study of Religion's Philosophy, and Scholastic Philosophy and Theology are the same and correlated altogether, namely religion, the scope and domain, and objectives of each of these sciences remain different.
