Abstract

Women around the world have the same problem that is discrimination due to patriarchal perspective. Discrimination occurs in many areas of social, cultural, political, and economic. Concerns about the condition of women is present through the women’s movement that comes with international conventions to establish a legal protection for women. One is the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW). CEDAW obliges ratifying countries to condemn all forms of discrimination and implement policies that eliminate discrimination against women. However, the effectiveness of CEDAW which is seen from three aspects, namely obligation, precision, and delegation relatively low. This allows the violation of the contents of the convention, Indonesia and Malaysia are still not able to resolve the cases of violence against women effectively.
