Hind bint Abi Umayyad (Umm Salama) is the second most important female after Aishah who involved in the interpretation of the al-Qurâan. This article reconstructs Umm Salamahâs interpretation on sources of her interpretation, the source and the chain of transmitter and characteristic of her interpretation. This article concludes that Umm Salamah used a number of external and internal sources. The chain of transmitterâs quality of her interpretations range from sahih, hasan and dhaâif.Umm Salamah interpreted on various aspects of verses, whether in relation toaspects of thet heological, legal, and social. In particular, for the interpretaion derived from the Prophet, the majority derived fromUmmu Salamah questions on some verses of the Quranto the Prophet. Umm Salamah efforts, in one hand, can represent womenâs involvement in understanding and interpreting al-Quran. On the other hand, it also found the verses that speak specifically to answer the protests from Umm Salamah enshrined in the Koran.
