Abstract

The formulation of the problem in this research is what the symbols of gender representation in the activity of selling Islamic products on facebook and understood what is the meaning of these symbols. Gender symbols on islamic products selling activity on facebook is greeting “sist” by each user, profile pictures in every coment, and of course, identical with product photos. To understand the symbols, the semiotic method used in this study. Representation of women is very dominant in the activities of Islamic products to sell on facebook. This can be seen from the product, language, and user profiles. Keywords: Representasi gender, aktivitas berjualan, produk islami, dan facebook.
