Abstract

The dynamics of the political and state development of the Indonesian nation has always been side by side with religion and religious leaders. For religious circles, especially in East Java, the role of the kiai in politics is still often debated. The relational continuum between religious and political figures can be divided into two epicenters. The community in Nganjuk Regency can be categorized as a multi-religious society with religious and belief characteristics. The views of religious leaders who are members of the Nganjuk Regency FKUB socio-religiously represent social phenomena on various life problems, including politics. As subjects who have religious roles, functions, and social status, their views on politics can be studied as a basic capital in further understanding the attitudes and behavior of religious leaders in politics on the one hand, and the attitudes and behavior of people towards religious and political figures on the other. another. In general, this study aims to examine the legitimacy of religious politics according to the interpretation of the multi-religious society of Nganjuk district. In particular, this study aims to examine and describe two, namely (1) the views of the multi-religious community of Nganjuk district on the political legitimacy of religious figures; and (2) the factors that shape the views of the multi-religious community of Nganjuk district on the political legitimacy of religious figures. This research was conducted with a qualitative approach. The type of research used is field research. The data analysis in this research is interpretive analysis and content analysis using deductive-inductive and inductive-deductive thinking lines on an ongoing basis. The data in this case are substantively-contextually interpreted using a sociological approach. The primary data source is the views of the multi-religious community represented by members of the Nganjuk FKUB regarding the political legitimacy of religious figures. The data collection technique used in this research is to use interview and documentation techniques. The data analysis technique used to process the research data is the qualitative data analysis of the Miles and Huberman flow model.
