Abstract

Globalization alters the intellectual landscape and the scope for doing theology and ethics. The old paradigm for conceiving ethics at the parochial or communal level only is rendered insufficient by the new and emerging context of a globalized world. Global problems require a global ethic to address it. Reformed theology is equipped with the resources embedded in its history and development to address the ethical issues on a global scale. While unique in its speed and the breadth of its scope in the present time, globalization is by no means a purely contemporary phenomenon. The way the Reformed communities dealt with parallel circumstances in the past will provide guidance in its role in the present circumstances. This essay argues that Reformed theology has much to offer to the present conversation in search of a global ethic.
