Abstract

ABSTRACT          All this time, early detection of Iron Deficiency Anemia (ADF) has not been done. Though anemia that occurs in children under five years will affect their health, cognitive and physical development (Zuffo, et al, 2016). As the effort to reduce the rate of ADF in infants, UNICEF and WHO recommend that infants should only be given breastmilk for at least the first six months of life. The breastfed infant are less likely to have ADF. Reaching 50% iron derived from breast milk is easier to be absorbed by digestion, compared to 4% of infant formula (Demallof, et al, 2014). The purpose of this study was to analyze the prevalence of ADF in children under five years with a history of non exclusive breastfeeding in Posyandu Beningrejo, Tasikmadu, Karanganyar. The methodused in this research was observational descriptive with retrospective cohort study. The research was conducted at Posyandu Beningrejo, Tasikmadu, Karanganyar. The samples in this research were children under five years with a history of non exclusive breastfeeding who came to Posyandu Beningrejo, Tasikmadu, Karanganyar along January 2018, the sampling applied was Purposive Sampling. The instrument used in this research was hemoglobin tes strip. The research found that the incidence of ADF in children under five years with a history of non exclusive breastfeedinga at Posyandu Beningrejo, Tasikmadu, Karanganyar reached 16 respondents (44%). According to the the results of Hb measurement of 36 respondents researcher can conclude that respondents (56%) who did not have anemia and 16 respondents (44%) had anemia. Keywords: children under five years, non exclusive breastfeeding history, iron deficiency anemia ABSTRAK           Selama ini, upaya deteksi dini Anemia Defisiensi Besi (ADF) pada balita belum dilakukan.
